Wiper Blades?

Bought and installed new wiper blades....blades are still skipping over/not touching 1 large spot on the windshield driver's side - any ideas? The actual blade itself too thin?

Try cleaning the glass, even using a razor blade scraper. Sometimes there is a film that is very difficult to clean off.
Then the insert may be new, but installed incorrectly, or the blade got bent in the process. There is also a big difference in quality of the rubber in the inserts. Some work better than others, or last a lot longer.

Oh winter's here with all the ice and snow
and the surly slush upon the road
the salty spray upon my window
makes me wish that I'd replaced my wiper blades
(chorus)
my wiper wiper wiper blades
my wiper wiper wiper blades
my wiper wiper wiper blades
I wish that I'd replaced my wiper blades
salty spray from semis that do pass
they turn my windshield into bathroom glass
I turn the knob but I come to the conclusion
that I did not fill up my washer solution
my wiper wiper wiper fluid
my wiper wiper wiper fluid
my wiper wiper wiper fluid
I wish that I'd replaced my wiper fluid
Down the expressway 80 mph
I can make out headlights, tailights, frosted shapes
but down by the dash there's a clearing where both blades do scrape
I can see fine if I lay on the passenger seat
(chorus)
my wiper wiper wiper blades
my wiper wiper wiper blades
my wiper wiper wiper blades
i wish that i'd replaced my wiper blades
(lead guitar break)
my wiper wiper wiper blades
my wiper wiper wiper blades
"one time on delay"
my wiper.............wiper..........wiper blades
i wish that I'd replaced my wiper blades

I switched to Bosch Icon wiper blades a few years ago and have been very happy with their quality and endurance. They're pricy, but they have lasted about a year on average and they don't skip or make that "grunk" noise.

there's a glass polish - has the effect of RainX, but lasts much, much longer... water will bead up for > 6 mos. Its real thick, like watered down toothpaste, and will remind you of 'waxing', just like waxing the paint.

I found it at Renaissance Glass. N. Burnet, just N. of North Loop - W. side of street.

My wipers never screech/squall or miss. As you can tell, I like obscure hi-tech stuff.

Years ago Consumer Reports tested blades and, surprisingly, the cheap Anco blades came out on top. I've used them for years and haven't had any issues with them at all. I usually find them at Walmart for a bargain price and they last at least a year.

You can use Bon Ami to clean glass without scratching it. I tried one of those Rain-X products once. Water beads up and runs off alright. Problem is, on a really humid day the stuff attracts moisture like a magnet so there is a constant fog on the glass that requires running the wipers, whereas without the stuff that would not be necessary. Depending on vehicle age, the blades themselves might not be the problem. The wiper arm itself might have gotten bent or the spring could be weak.
