wineries near Santa Barbara

The wife and I are planning a summer trip and we found some cheap plane tickets to Los Angeles. The plan at this point is hang around LA for a day or two, go up to Santa Barbara, and maybe drive to Vegas at some point.
My question is about wineries. I know most of the wineries are in Northern California, but I've noticed there are quite a few near Santa Barbara. Anyone have recommendations for good ones to visit?
Also, are there any other wine areas near LA? I didn't think there was, but maybe y'all know some.

There are some great wineries/tasting rooms to the north of Santa Barbara. Google some of these:
Zaca Mesa
Au Bon Climat
Foley
Cambria
Fess Parker

Be prepared for a 2 hour drive from LA though....I'd recommend that you stay a night in Solvang...great little Dutch town.

I thought the Fess Parker wine was generally

but the lodge/grounds were cool. May I suggest:

Firestone
Curtis
Rancho Sisquoc

Solvang is a fun little place to spend a day. Eat at the Red Viking.
