Windows XP x64

I have a spare copy of this and was wondering if I should use it for a PC I am thinking of building. I will either build one with this, or just buy a pre-built dell or hp with Vista. I know that there were some issues with drivers, but has that all been worked out? Is the 64 bit version of XP as compatible as the 64 bit version of Vista? Does this mean I can use 4 gig or higher of RAM?

BTW, I like XP because I use Remote Desktop Connection for work and I can't get that with Vista. However, this is not a deal breaker if the driver issue would cause too many headaches.

Appreciate any and all help

By and large, the driver issues for 64-bit OSes are pretty much fixed for mainstream hardware (note: there will probably be some one-off manufacturer that isn't with the times). I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "is the 64-bit version of XP as compatible as the 64-bit version of Vista"...but I will assume that you are meaning in terms of compatibility with existing software. There really isn't any compatibility difference from what I've seen.

You can use Remote Desktop (aka Terminal Services) on Vista, provided you have the Business/Ultimate SKU.

If you want to use 4GB+ RAM, you need to ensure 2 things:
1) You have a 64-bit Operating System
2) Your motherboard supports it.

If you're building your own machine, you're damn near guaranteed that the motherboard will support at least 8 GB.

I will say that Vista x64 is freaking awesome with 4 GB of RAM.
