Windows Service Pack Install Problem

For the last several months, my computer has been telling me to install Windows Service Pack 2. I download it and it starts its install and about 10 minutes in, it will pop up an error that it can't find atapi.sys, so I have to cancel the installation.

Any ideas? I don't have a windows disk.

it's something thats probably missing out of your drivers folder, i dont know if it can just be replaced with another one, but if you wanna try, PM me and ill send it to you.

I don't know if the disk will help better, but I just went to the Microsoft site and signed up to get one sent to me. It said 6-8 weeks, but it was there within about 5 days.

virtual disk apps like daemon tools lock the atapi.sys file. that may be the problem.
