Only three series left at Baylor, home against KSU, and at TCU.

Baylor was close to catching OU after being below .500 for the season most of the way. Then they went to TCU and lost 2 of three and fell back to 20-20 for the year.
Still at 8-6 in the conference they are in a dogfight for second place right now and still in reach of OU who is at
8-4.

For the first time in years all three games are at the same place this time Waco since the split series left with Aggy. So I am not seeing taking taking this series there.

Kansas State played a very easy non conference schedule to rack up wins and have a 28-13 record, but still just 7-5 in conference. Better than us of course, but we do pitch better at home which keeps us in every
game.

I think this may well be our best chance to win a series, but it's still a toss up.

Finally TCU which started off the season very bad and the conference just as badly. They have been slowly turning it around and even their losses are usually close.
They are still only 19-21 overall mainly because they played a tough non conference schedule against then top ten ranked Ole Miss and lost all three on the road in close games. Ole Miss is still ranked #20 as of today.

Then they played Cal State Fullerton at home and lost all three of those. I told everybody back then you would be hearing from Fullerton and today they are ranked at # 4 in the country.

After taking two of three from Baylor last weekend they are 7-8 in conference play. This series should decide whether Texas makes the conference tourney over Tech or not so there should be no lack of motivation for Texas here. Texas has to beat Tech outright in the standings since Tech has the tie breaker in head to head play.

Still this series is in Fort Worth and just like their football team they have been waiting to play Texas for a long time and they will have plenty of motivation too.

So I think the best shot is against Kansas State at home.
Please remember that the KSU thing has never applied to baseball in fact we own them every bit as much in baseball as they have us in the other two sports.

Kansas State is 12-44-1 against Texas all time.
They are 5-18 at home and 7-23-1 in Austin and 0-3 at neutral sites.

By the way this Tuesday we play UH which has already beat us once and it will be a very tough game with one of the freshman or maybe Urban going as a starter.

Up is a new direction (well, football has been trending up). Is that what you meant? I saw no other suggestions.

I hope up is the direction, but hope is not a plan nor strategy. Unfortunately hope is all we can do at this point.

Now we are down to TCU. I'd say we have a good chance, but we are 4-12 on the road while not winning any Big XII series this year. We are not only out of the national playoffs, but it's doubtful we'll even make the conference tourney.

Think about this for a minute. Only ONE team will miss the conference tourney and it will probably be Texas. That's dead last and ******* pathetic in a conference with only two decent, but not really great teams!

Texas is 6-15 in conference which will require us to win two on the road against TCU while Tech is swept at home by 11-9 Baylor which is entirely possible but not likely.

What possible good would come from making the conference tournament just to get embarrassed by the #1 seed? Let this thing die peacefully in it's sleep, then come back next year.
