Will Texas wait on Jordan Hicks?

An Ohio State "recruiting expert" poses the question...then seems to answer it himself. I guess the real news is that Hicks is now up to 222 lbs.

Jordan Hicks

I think we will make room for him no matter what. I would love to get this one because I think he will be a great one and he has great character too.

Sounds like we will fight for Hicks all the way through to the February signing date, but it is always hard to pry someone like that away from their home state.

I agree with Cougar. Mack will gladly wait, but after the visit, he will expect a commit. Mack wants players who WANT to be Horns, so we will see what happens.

We will wait all the way to NSD if needed with Hicks. Would sure be nice to change the tide of these late season misses...

I noticed on Rivals that his interest has been changed from high on us to medium. To me that is alarming especially with our experience in OOS recruits. I'm beginning to think if Corey Nelson wants to come here we sign him immediately. I think this one may be going away. He was one I really wanted too.

If Hicks is going to be comparing depth charts, then we're in very good shape. We will only have 5 returning scholarship LBs going into the 2010 season: Keenan Robinson, Dustin Earnest, Emmanuel Acho, Tariq Allen, and Patrick Nkwopara (Roberson has moved to FB and Dravannti to TE/DE). That leaves an open spot on the 2 deep (probably at SLB) for one of the true freshman to fill. Florida and Ohio State will both have 9 returning scholarship LBs in 2010.

Ohio State can tell him: We have beaten Texas once! We have been dogstomped by USC.

USC can tell him: We dog stomped Ohio State and we, um, we, could have beaten Rome, Hannibal's Army and more than likely Mike Ditka!

Texas can say: We have beaten Ohio State two our of 3 times and USC in their own backyard (granted not the Coliseum) and they had a pro running back on their team.

Easy decision.

In a recent interview Hicks named Texas first (chronologically) out of six teams, the first four of which were in the South.

He has supposedly really been warming to tOSU and the idea of playing close to home (he is really close with mom (single mother) and word has it she wants him in state). Also feels that there are definite positives to leaving the homeland area as he had always assumed he would.
