Will Obama call out this guy?

I'm sure that this does not need to be spelled out, but here goes.

The states send money to the Fed Government, some of which is used for disasters. The Federal Government much be asked by the states to declare a disaster before they can act.

This was one problem with Katrina in Louisiana. The state was slow in asking for federal assistance.

Now, I've seen Perry ask for federal assistance in anticipation of disasters (hurricanes) in the past. I'm not sure why that is necessary but I supposed it is a Katrina lesson.

Not surprising to see some people would rather Texans lose land ,property, livestock and even human life so Obama can call out a Governor and score political points with his radicals.

First off, Roger, I don't think calling people out as hypocrites is what a President should be doing with his time. I don't care for Congressmen or Governors doing the same, but that's not the gist of your post.

Second, for Obama to call anyone a hypocrite after his 'open and transparent government' comments is simply a bad decision, for all the hypocrisy-laden actions he's displayed in his term.

Third, I hope the President grants disaster relief, or at least some sort of federal assistance to West Texas, and stat. As of this morning, I know that my family has lost over 3,000 acres in the wildfires, and have three homes in jeopardy of being affected.

In this particular topic, I say move on, or focus on being part of the solution, not the problem.

There's a distinct difference between taking federal dollars from some sham program that will leave the state on the hook for the future and asking for federal money for disasters that, like was mentioned, we actually pay in to for this very reason.. ******* geezus chist some of you just want to hear yourselves ***** about something. Happy Monday.

Gee I don't know but the title combined with the Op's last sentences look a tad like the posters is upset Obam wouldn't do it

"Will Obama call out this hypocrite? I don't think so. He's too afraid of being seen as confrontational and "angry".

Of course you can carry his water all you want but perhaps 35 will be honest enough to explain what he really meant by his last sentence and the "

I may have missed something when I moved out of Texas, but has Rick Perry called for Texas to secede from the union? When did that happen? Roger apparently believes he wants to do that.

Of course, we ALL understand that being a secessionist and not wanting to give additional power over the states to the federal government are NOT the same thing, so I'm sure that Roger is not referring to that.

He implied that during the Tea Party rallies. Perry is an embarassment but unfortunately no one can beat him at the polls.

What Perry actually said IIRC was that he understood those whose frustration with Obama and Dems were doing led them to say they wanted Texas to secede.
I don't believe Perry ever said he wanted Texas to secede, just that he understands people's frustration.

What could be more wicked than checking statements posing as "facts?"

As for water-carrying,

This is the dawning of the age of Horn6721, the age of Horn6721!

Amusing irony of the water carrying label being applied to someone who merely took the literal meaning of the op by someone who then hauls the buckets for Governor Perry.

Perry liked to strut and turn down Federal programs as a pose, now he's screwing a lot of things up as a result. It would be poor form for Obama to embarrass Perry over this incident. The feds should help all they can to stop disasters. Perry's jackassery speaks for itself, sadly a majority of voting Texans seem to eat it up.

i do not think anyone denies perry is a snake oil salesman. nobody likes the guy. unfortunately, its only going to get worse. why would a nice guy making a lot of money want to go through the politics of personal destruction and put his family through that to hold office and make less money? only a complete egomaniac would do something like that. there are very few quality individuals in politics. you can survive for a while as a liberal because the media will not be on you as hard but forget about it if you are a conservative. just look at the republican field for president?

upset,
I doubt Perry would win any election held on WM. I really don't know a single poster who stands up for Perry.

At the heart of the matter here is what duties/responsibilities are the state's and which are the federal governments. Honestly, while I would hope that the federal government would help the state of Texas with these fires, I can't see any Constitutional authourity to do so. I do believe that while beyond the scope of the US Constitution, disaster relief is VERY VERY small potatoes with regards to the egregious violations now in place.
I think Texas ought to fight the fires. Of course, I am this odd bird here who believes federal taxes should be lower, state taxes higher, Texas should fund the education of our citizen and quit cutting education funds. This is because I believe Texas is the responsibility of the people of Texas and our government, NOT Washington's. We have a weak state government, because the federal government has so overstepped it's bounds.

Perry may be a do nothing governor. But he's not a seccessionist. To suggest otherwise is sheer ignorance. Yes he, like many others, is fed up with the feds. But a successionist? No. Also, Oilfield makes a good point regarding the origin of the relief money,

I don't have a problem with Perry asking the fed to send some of the money we sent to washington back to Texas so we can handle this disaster. Note sure why roger is so worked up over that. **** man....its our money
