will Dallas now go strong for McFadden?

you just get the feeling Jones wants this fellow Hog in the bad way, just for the presitige factor alone. What may Dallas offer the Tuna?

They shouldn't. They could get a very good RB in the mid to late first round with one of their other picks and spend tons less money doing it.

I really don't they will (or can). Maybe if he falls out of the top 5, which Todd McShay thinks he will. And wasn't Rosenhaus at the combine to negotiate Barber's new contract?

However, a few years ago the Cowboys passed on the chance to draft the top back because there were a lot of talented backs later in the draft. That did not work out well.

As good as the Cowboys offense was this year, it is missing a big play threat (outside of TO, who isn't getting any younger).

For those that think Jerry will make this trade because McFadden went to Arkansas, let me once again remind everyone that Jones has drafted zero Arkansas players in the almost 20 years he has owned the team.

interesting point about no Hogs in Dallas.

explain this ... McFadden runs a 4.27, but the "official" time is 4.33. Do they take the average of 3 runs or so? Do they take the middle best run? JC ran a 4.36 then a 4.39 but his number is 4.38.

how are these final run numbers determined?

I doubt that the Cowboys go strong for a trade, but I've said all along that Jerry will at least talk to Al Davis about the #4 pick. That should get McFadden if Jones is so inclined.

Isn't this a pretty easy trade to make? Cowboys give up two #1s for the number 1 pick? How much more could the Dolphins reasonably ask for?

Also, if McFadden ran that fast, can you imagine what Felix Jones ran?

They could trade TO.

I think the chance for Dallas left when Cleveland had a good season and nearly made the playoffs. Now the two picks that Dallas has are mid to low 1st round picks (22 and 28 which is about what they had last year) and I don't see a team in the top 3-5 (and McFadden will goes this high or higher) trading down for those 2 picks, unless there is more attached. So the question is how much does Dallas want to give up?

I think Minnesota at #17 could be a team that trades down if Cowboys see something there they really want.

2 late 1st rounders <> 1st pick in the draft.
RB.Pick Value Chart I don't know how accurate this is. It was the first one to pop up on Google.

It doesn't make sense for Dallas to move up that far to get a RB. It cost too much in picks and salary cap for a position that you can find later in the round/draft. And they are old at some positions, WR, DB, OL.

They have some holes to fill. If anything they should trade a 1 and get more 2nds and 3rds.

Why do people keep bringing this stupid trade up? It has ZERO life to it except for the fools who actually think Jerry Jones would mortgage his team's future on an UNPROVEN RB.
Dallas would have to give up both 1st Rounders plus Marion Barber to even have a remote chance of pulling off a deal like this and that trade is just plain STUPID.

Why would you give up an already established NFL RB that has a 4.5 YPC average and has scored 33 total TD's in only 3 years? You don't, especially when you got that guy with a 4th Round
pick.

People who even entertain the thought of this type of trade make me want to kick them in the head.

The Cowboys do not need the Dolphin's pick to get McFadden. Jones has already stated emphatically that he won't give up Barber, but that doesn't mean that a trade for less with say, the Raiders cannot at least be discussed. Remember who the king of the wasteland in Oakland is. Davis has made some foolish moves over the years and one more wouldn't surprise me at all.

Because of the depth of this draft, I am of the opinion that the Cowboys can better serve themselves by holding pat and using their existing picks. That blade cuts both ways though, because in a deeper draft later first round picks have more value in a potential trade scenario.

If the Cowboys passed on McFadden and he turns out to be another Peterson, there will be many lamenting what could have been.

I forgot to add that personally, I wouldn't mind seeing them get that other Smith from Florida (UCF).
