Wilco is playing in Cedar Park?

Seriously. This is one of the worst ideas ever.

Ever. I will go to Dallas later that week before I will ever see Wilco in Cedar Park.

Is this really the direction Wilco wants to take? I don't like it. Don't like it at all.

October 8.

It just makes no sense. The only thing I can think of is that Cedar Park Center is new so they're offering some good money to bands to play there since they also have George Strait.

A minor league hockey arena in the far north suburbs is not the venue I want to see Wilco in. Arenas just aren't that great for concerts, IMO. It also doesn't match up with the other venues they are playing in.

Last time they were here, they did two outstanding shows at Stubb's. I'd rather drive to Verizon in San Antonio to see them there! At least that's a music venue and not a sports arena.

I live Arboretum area and practically refuse to go see anyone in that monstrosity in Cedar Park.

there is a discernable difference between the Arboretum area and Cedar Park?

It's about money. I am sure Wilco is getting paid some nice coin. You are getting upset that a band of wealthy musicians are going to be playing in Cedar Park?

That venue is better than anything in Austin.
Will seat around 8,000 for concerts. It is a ten minute drive from Mopac and 183 if you take the 183A tollway part of the highway.

There are Wilco fans all over and not just central and south Austin. Get a clue.

But you are right why would anyone want to go see Wilco anyway after their blatant rip off of Tom Petty and George Harrison in one of their new songs.

They should be playing Bass.... i cant think of a more perfect venue for them to play in the centex area.

We'll have to see how it goes. If it sells out or gets packed it was a good idea. Not that many venues can fit that many people and they may have enough fans here to fill the arena. Would you rather see them at the Erwin Center? blech, no. They couldn't fill it anyways.

How is the new Austin Music Hall? Are they too big for La Zona Rosa?

I wish Aquafest would come back. Sorry, that's really random but boy I sure wish it would. Auditoreum shores, why not? Make it maybe one or two headliners that are touring and the rest local bands.

Show is being promoted heavily via commercials on KGSR. Guess we'll know soon if a show like this can be successful in this setting in Cedar Park. Personally I don't see Wilco fans flocking to a sterile hockey area for a show.

I guess with all you people bitchin' about having to travel to CP means a better chance of getting good seats to the show.

Just looked into pre-sale tickets. With fees and everything a pair was going to run almost $90.00! I like Wilco and all, but geez....

calm down. if you follow wilco for any time, they play all over the place. all sorts of venues. they even make it a point to play Houston at least once every two years.

who gives a **** if they want to play in cedar park? do you like the band or not? maybe it's a nice venue.

I've seen them at liberty lunch, antone's, stubbs and howlin' wolf (et al) but wouldn't complain about having to watch them in any particular venue...ever.

not to by cynical, but cedar park kinda fits the "dad rock" characterization that they've picked up here recently.

So how was it? Who went? From the AAS, sounds like even Tweedy questioned why he was playing a hockey arena in CP.

"Some of the set’s odd feel came on account of the venue, which Tweedy himself noted a few times, at one point early on jokingly noting, “we’re just hanging out, playing some music in a hockey arena;” he also stated later that he preferred two nights in Austin, implying that he’d rather be at Stubb’s. If you’re planning on attending a show there in the future, be prepared to stand in the will-call line for an excessive amount of time, and be warned that some of the seats off the floor have less leg room than an airplane. Sound-wise, it was a bit muddy from the right of the stage (although people elsewhere in the room said it sounded great), and at times it was difficult to hear various parts of the mix, including when openers Liam Finn and Eliza-Jane Barnes joined the band for a just-okay “California Stars.”"

Anyone who is complaining about anyone playing a concert at the new arena in Cedar Park clearly hasn't been there. It is a wonderful new facility, and just about a perfect size. There isn't a bad seat in the house because it is so small. It is about as intimate as any arena can be..
If Wilco is large enough to sell about 7,000 seats, then this is the best place to do it in the Austin area.

texascoder, I went for the Dallas Stars v Texas Stars 'Battle of the Stars' game. I had no problems with seat size, or width.
