Wii Game Question

I presently have a PS3 that I love, unfortunately, my wife wants to play some games with me but there are no 2 player games that I'm aware of for PS3. So, I'm thinking of buying here a Wii so that we can play some games together and she can do the Wii fitness thing...I have no idea if its any good. Question, I've played bowling and Rock Band but what are some other games that we might enjoy playing together? Do you like the system?

Also, does the system have updates similar to PS3?

There are no 2 player games for the PS3? Really? I'm not a gamer by any stretch of the imagination but that surprises me.

With three kids in the house we have a Wii. They love it. I play with them every once in awhile and it's fun. The Mario games are always fun. My boys really like Madden and NCAA football but I suspect your wife won't.

Most of the multi-player games are played online...at least the ones that I've bought. Could be some sports games that are two player but I haven't bought any. I've been playing Call of Duty, Metal Gear Solid, Uncharted 1 & 2, etc...role playing games.

I got a Wii from my mother in law and have barely even fired the thing up. Hope to get some playing time in over the holidays.

Quick question - is there a joystick attachment that allows you to play like the old systems or do you have to use the handheld thing for every game (sorry for my naivity).

Thanks.

My kids play call of duty all the time in 2 player. It splits the screen and when I play I can't keep from looking at the wrong screen. The only games I ever play with them are Madden and NCAA Football and both have 2 player.

We have a Wii and a 360, and like to play together, as well. We tried WoW for a while, but found that sucked out all of our time.

Most of the games we end up finding that are Co-op on the Xbox are shooters. We specifically like to play games that have co-op mode through the campaign, and aren't simply multiplayer modes. Halo and Gears of War are of no help to you, being Xbox exclusive, but those are the types of franchises that suit us well.

The last couple of Call of Duty games are co-op. Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1&2 and Overlord 2 are a couple of other examples.

Co-Optimus is a pretty good reference to multiplayer games.

FWIW, we rarely ever turn the Wii on.

Wii Sports Resort is a blast. I 2nd any of the Lego games ---they can all be played in 2 player co-op mode.

For Wii games I would suggest the New Super Mario Bros, it is awesome and up to 4 can play together at a time. For PS3 there are plenty of 2player or coop games mostly shooters. I'd suggest Army of Two, my husband and I enjoy playing that quite a bit.

Wii has some additional controllers that you can purchase, not really a joystick but there is an attachment so that you can have the traditional nintendo controller
