front row center at sunday's matinee. The wife loved it and I am sitting pretty for the time being. (Wife is drama teacher) I enjoyed it, the wife loved it.
I'm not a big fan of musicals, though I can appreciate them when they are done well.
Wicked was very, very good. Watching the show made me want to read the book. Now, I have to admit that the songs weren't the catchiest I've ever seen. In terms of the actual music, I liked Avenue Q WAAAAYYY better. But, the story is so interesting that it completely makes up for the vanilla music. (Note: when we went, the main actress was replaced by an understudy, so it is possible that when the star is back in there, the songs are a little better).
The other thing that is really good is the actual stage construction and visuals. Just really, really impressive.
I have a friend who is playing in the orchestra and he suggested the show is about 2.5 hours long with a single intermission. Not sure the kid will be able to hang.
