Why isn't Congress doing THEIR job?

I continually read about Congress and their dissatisfaction with President Obama's ideas and plans. We have seen it with the current jobs bill, the debt limit increase, the budget, etc.

Seems things have gotten turned around. I thought Congress was supposed to get these bills put together and passed so that they President could sign or veto them. Now the President seems to be the one who Congress is making come up with all the plans and then they are deciding if they like them or don't like them. The President should be telling Congress what kind of legislation he wants and perhaps give them some ideas that would push them in one direction or another. Then they should be putting their heads together and solve these problems.

The jobs bills is a perfect example. The President doesn't need to come up with a comprehensive specific plan. He simply needs to tell Congress that hey we need to do something in the way of a jobs bill in order to get Americans back to work and decrease the unemployment rate. Then it is up to them to get it done. That is their F***ing job!

Same goes with the budget. The President turned in his budget proposal and left it up to Congress to take it and roll with it. He even followed it up with a speech outlining more specifics to try and help them. But in the end it is their job to get it done and they have failed.

Then the debt ceiling limit that went down to the wire. That was the job of Congress again and they let it go all the way down to the deadline. The President stepped in to try and help negotiations. He gave them a plan that they could take or modify. In the end he helped negotiate a compromise that including delayed spending cuts which will be decided later. But again it isn't his job to get this done.

Is it the fact that the 2 parties that control different houses of Congress just can't seem to work together that causes the President to need to intercede? Perhaps. But I don't think we the people should be waiting for him to do something. I think we should be blaming Congress for not doing THEIR jobs and we should be putting the pressure on them.

How is this Congress different than any before?

Are you just now noticing that every politician in DC is a sorry, ineffective blowhard? I've been preaching that on this board for years. Pay attention next time and this kind of thing won't come as such a surprise to you.

Mr. Obama had a Democrat controlled House and Senate for two years. They didn't pass a budget, did not pass any bills for jobs, did not pass anything that had to do with debt limit increase and on and on. Since the Repubs have taken back control of the House they have passed a budget, passed the Ryan plan, and quite a few other bills that would have had some impact on the jobs situation. I think I heard one of the pundits say that 34 bills had been passed in the HOR for jobs. None have been taken up by the Senate, controlled by the Dems. One side of Congress is trying to make progress, one is not and that is the problem.

Obama sat on the sidelines of the debt limit battle and basically told Congress to figure it out. Never once offered a written plan that I'm aware of.

So Obama called for a jobs bill?
he Republican controlled House has passed THIS year 11 bills realting to job growth and job protection.

The Dem controlled Senate? ZERO

Well remember Bush's socialist education and drug legislation. To count towards the long march of Progress, the bills the R's pass(ed) should all be two pagers where every other word is 'repeal' and the dates are something like 1986 or 2008 or 2009 or 2010.

They are paid to hold their office. From what I can tell they will do and say anything to hold those offices so they are doing their job.

Give me the guys working hard any day of the week. I will take the hard work ethic any day of the week vs. it is too hard and nothing will get done attitude.

there are currently 11 bills concering job creation and retention passed by the House. What is the deante doing?
do you call doing nothing working together?
The House passed a budget,
it has been OVER 800 days since the Senate passed a budget
I'd say the House has been busy.
What has the Senate done on any of the bills passed by the House?
is that working together?

Apparently your idea of working together is to do whateve obama wants

It is quite obvious that only half of Congress is doing anything.

If you can't see that and are still contending that it is the whole Congress, the more credibility you lose in many other battles.

Pick your battles this is one you have no evidence, even the most partisian evidence will not help you in this one.

I"m thinking that if the GOP takes the senate in 2012, you'll see that it hasn't been "Congress" who hasn't been doing anything, so much as the Senate.

Pharm?

If as you say you want congress works together and does pass a bill, both House and Senat, but Obama vetoes it who will you blame?

So then if they were to do his job as you say then their job would be to lead this country including the legislature (which is themselves). I think you boxed yourself into an obvious gaffe. nice try. Or perhaps you just need a basic civics lesson.

if a POTUS wants a particluer piece of lege to get through who do YOU think it is up to to write the lege?
Who is it who keeps saying over and over and over and over, " PASS this bill NOWl'

When there was no bill to pass.

who knows how this will turn out but right now it appears Congress is in agreement albeit for different reasons that an Obama jobs bill will NOT pass.
but according to your standard congress will have done their job, right?
