Why is the Big-12 being so nice to Missouri?

Why? It's not like Missouri hasnt made its intentions known for well over a year? Yet Neinas insisted on being nice to Missouri. Instead of holding them to a tight deadline on making a committment to the Big-12, he let them have all the time in the world.

From the day it was announced that all other Big-12 schools had agreed to the 6 year committment, Missouri should have had 5 days at most to come out and say it was doing to same, or leaving. Instead they had the time to iron out issues with the SEC.

The Big-12 also never announced about taking the basketball tournament out of KC, and never using KC for a football championship game, if the Big-12 were to ever have one again.

Basically all the leverage was given up to Missouri. The Big-12 just back and let Missouri call the shots.

I am sorry, but Neinas has been a most unimpressive commissioner so far. In fact he has been quite useless as one.

i dont know how playing hardball with mizzou would help.

besides, neinas' time would be better spent lining up teams to take over for mizzou immediately after they announce their intentions.

It seems like it would be holding a gun to your own head to threaten Missouri. To kick Missouri out would be to forfeit the exit fee Missouri will owe if/when they do leave, plus the sooner MIssouri leaves, the sooner the quality of sports and value of market share decreases for the Big-Whatever. To kick them out seems to me to gain nothing except the satisfaction of doing so.

I would hope the Big-12 demand Missouri remains through the 2012 season and allow no negotiation regarding the exit fee. The Big-12 should set the fee and say: this is the fee for leaving, no discussion.

Because the longer MO stays the harder it will be for it to leave.

Second, our hand is secure. The teams we want if MO leaves are not going anywhere and MO is really on the fence about leaving. So, why push it. Just sit and be nice. See what happens.
