Why does ESPN show Cubs vs. Braves?

In between innings of the Rangers game I flipped over to ESPN to see if a baseball game was on. Well what a surprise, it wasn't the Yankees or Red Sox, but the only other teams in the big leagues - Cubs and Braves.

Why must ESPN show a Cubs or Braves game? And to add insult, show Cubs vs. Braves.

My point being that I and 90% of the rest of the country can watch these two damn teams on WGN or TBS any day of the week. Isn't there a team with a little more intrigue out there?

cubs have the best record in baseball. i loathe ESPN as much as the next guy, but i don't see why they have to justify airing the hottest team in the majors

braves games are no longer broadcasted nationally on tbs. even cubs games on wgn have been reduced in recent years

You wanna talk about reduced? I am a life-long Cubs fan and games on WGN this year have been few and far between. The number of Cubs games aired on my tv in Pflugerville, Texas has plummeted over the last 2 years. We have one of the most intriguing and famous/infamous managers in the game, a team that has twice as many guys hitting .300 and above as they do guys with a lack thereof, the leading team in runs, OBP, HR's, and Extra base hits in the NL, along with the best record in the league, combined with the fact that the team is so popular that everywhere they play there is a throng of Cubs fans cheering them on in any city in America. It makes sense to have my Cubbies on ESPN. Get over it.

WGN shows 1-3 Cubs games a week. Starting this season, TBS now shows one (maybe two) games a week and they show different teams - not just the Braves.
