Why are they remaking 'Hulk' again?

They redid just a few years ago. It isn't like technology allows them to make an even better version.

Because the last one was a flop because of the script/story and they want to get it right by the time "The Avengers" movie rolls around in 2012.

Last one sucked because the Hulk looked dumb, Eric Bana is not sympathetic or a loner, taking down jets was dumb, running faster than gunships was dumb, the movie should have ended before what seemed like a 30 minute rant from Nick Nolte.

They have to have a movie for each of the characters in The Avengers, and each of those movies has to fit story-wise with The Avengers.

Iron Man was first. Then Hulk.

I think Thor is next, and probably Captain America at some point.

i have been hearing that this one is supposed to be decent.

If this "Hulk" flops as bad as the first one did, movie companies might want to take it easy on the superhero genre for a little while. We may be getting to the point where we have too many movies in this genre, and we're getting quantity instead of quality.

Basically the first one bombed so bad that Marvel wanted to take another swing at it to try and redeem it. They are aparently fighting with Ed Norton right now to get the final cut under two hours, which I think will be to the shows benefit.

Apparently, before The Avengers happens we will see The Hulk, Captain America, Thor and Antman. The Avengers is slated for 2012, so the rest have to happen before then.

Does that mean another post-credits guest role a certain bad mofo?

And I thought the last movie's hulk looked just as bad as this new one, but wasn't the strength and speed about right as Hulk is supposed to have pretty much infinite power based on his anger. I like the movie though as far as what it was supposed to be instead of being a rehash of the 80s show.

If it succeeds, perhaps they'll redo the Star wars prequels as well. Hey....I can hope.

Milk -

I've been meaning to ask you for a long time - what the hell is your sig? It is curiously both bizarre and great.

The Antman was one of the original avengers. He could make himself tiny, with his tiny little chemicals.

I too was scratching my head over this one. Eventually I came to the conclusion they are introducing him less on his own merits than of those of his creation... Ultron.

True, but those are all just different versions of "make me little, make me big"... which after "Honey, I...", Innerspace, etc etc etc is tired. They've got to have an angle on this I'm not seeing yet... I'm hoping it is Ultron, but we'll see.

Marvel wanted to re-do The Hulk because it didn't like the prior version. Staring with Iron Man, Marvel has assumed character development, design and production control of the movies. Previously, it simply licensed the rights tothe studios in return for production credit. The idea is that Marvel believees it knows best how to make movies that reflect its franchises (probably correct on that one).

I think this decade will be considered by entertainment historians as the dark ages of Hollywood. Hulk (twice), Batman (let's keep making Batman movies until we get them right), Fantastic Four, Speed Racer, Ocean's Eleven, Twelve, Thirteen, Manchurian Candidate, King Kong, Planet of the Apes, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Dukes of Hazard, The Island, Miami Vice, The Pink Panther, etc, etc, etc.

All remakes. Hollywood sucks.

I agree. The quality of the genre has increased quite a bit. It used to be one good hit in a dozen. It seems now that they are getting closer to the 50% mark.

Basketball Jones has it right, Marvel is now making its own movies and wants to get Hulk inline with everything else vis a vis the Avengers storyline.

Nothing to do with Hollywood remakes, quite the contrary. Marvel hit a home run with Iron Man, knows what they are doing and is going to kick *** making their own movies instead of stupid mofos in Hollywood that don't understand how to make a kickass comic book into a kick *** movie.

I have so much faith in Marvel Studios taking the rights to the characters and making there own movies rather than outsiders. I have actually invested in the Marvel Entertainment stock (laugh all you want, but they are quickly becoming a company that is soaring high and doing it fast).

The Incredible Hulk looks to be a very good movie and more of what fans want from a Hulk movie than that boring P.O.S. from Ang Lee.

here's some clips of the new Hulk:
