Huh, I've always thought he was about the same height as the Duke. You don't play a famous tall baseball player and a famous tall war hero by being short.

Fun Fact:
John Wayne played on the USC Trojans' O-Line alongside Ward Bond in 1926. Bond went on to play on USC's first national championship team in 1928. Wayne had lost his football scholarship to USC as a result of an injury and began working for the Fox Film Corporation.
