Who's on the mound tonight for Texas?

Everybody but Jungmann!!

Cole Green starts, followed by...?
I'll say Brandon Workman if long relief needed, then maybe Austin Dicharry (or reverse last two). Then a late inning by Chance Ruffin. If the game isn't over, very late, or in extra innings, then bring in Austin Wood for the coup de gras.

Green will go as long as he can. Ruffin may come in to get a key out or two.

Then it will be up to Austin and Austin if necessary. I sure hope Dicharry remembers how to throw a strike someday.

Only using Taylor last night was huge, it means everyone should be available tonight except him. Chance Ruffin is definitely an option late.

Texas has Cole Green coming off 4 full days of rest. He has looked great this post season

Ruffin, 5.2 IP (3.34 ERA)
Wood, 2.2 IP (2.44 ERA)
Dicharry, 1 IP (2.30 ERA)
Workman, 1.2 IP (3.50 ERA)
Jungmann, 9.0 IP (2.0 ERA)

Out of Texas top 5 pitchers (other than Green), 2 have seen significant innings the last 2 days. Jungmann would be very doubtful. Ruffin could come in for a short stretch. Wood, Dicharry, and Workman are the guys that will come in for relief in this game if needed. Of course score and situation dictate everything. Overall though that is 3 very good guys to have in your pen ready to go. Wood has pitched the most out of the 3 and he has only gone 2.2 IP. None of the 3 had to pitch last night and that is an added bonus.

LSU has used a few pitchers the last 2 games. Their pitchers used and IPs the last 2 games are as follows:
Coleman, 6 IP (2.98 ERA)
Jones, 1 IP (3.60 ERA)
Bertuccini, 1 IP (3.86 ERA)
Ott, 3 IP (2.50 ERA)
Ross, 2 IP (5.18 ERA)
Byrd, 0.2 IP (5.81 ERA)
Cain, 3.1 IP (4.01 ERA)
Bradshaw, 3 IP (3.04 ERA)

Coleman pitched a significant amount of innings on Monday. I would guess they use him tonight but not more than 2-3 innings. Ross was their #3 and he pitched last night. Even though he only pitched 2 innings, and is still very fresh, he as roughed up a bit so I don't think he is the guy they go to tonight. Cain, Bradshaw, and Ott have all pitched about 3 innings the last 2 games. They are all available to come in at some point. Though I think they go with their normal closer Ott as he did not pitch at all on Tuesday and is the fresher of the 3. My guess is they go with Ranaudo, bring in Coleman for middle relief, and then go to Ott to finish it off. They could go with Ross instead of Coleman though just b/c he only pitched 2 innings yesterday.

On paper LSU has the advantage in starting pitchers tonight. but Texas has the advantage in the pen. Texas will count on Wood tonight as LSU does far better against RHPs. Green needs to go at least 5 innings and allow less than 3 runs. Bullpen needs to just shut them out after that.

Anybody think there is any chance we see Jungmann again?

I am very hesitant to bring Wood in any game that is within 2 runs. He has been very shaky at best. Would rather see the other Austin and Workman in relief. Even Shinaberry.

pharmd,

Taylor also threw a little the other night, so he has pitched approx 11 innings.
His ERA is only 0.59 (run last night was unearned)
I just thought a 0.59 ERA deserved some props. (Hell, maybe it's own thread)

I think Augie shoiuld use him like Nolan Ryan. You know, give him a couple of advil this afternoon, & he'll be ready to go another 9 innings!

This is THE Title game. Johnny will pitch tonight...Johnny Allstaff.

If Augie needs Taylor to pitch, Taylor will pitch. If Augie needs me to pitch, he knows I have some eligibility left, so he'll call!

Yeah Nordberg, Wood has been nails in the CWS thus far. We should go with him. I believe he has given up at least one run in every appearance thus far.
