Who's #16?

15 commits on campus or awaiting National Signing Day on Feb 6.

Who is next on the radar for 2013?

DT Andrew Billings seems to be the only one in play from the Rivals list. Has he announced when he will make a verbal commitment?

Will there be another WR or RB added?

TE is thin with McFarland, Daniels and newly added JUCO Swaim. Does Texas go after another TE? Does Onyegbule move to TE full time?

Believe Billings is in line to be the next. With the OL class we've got now he should have no doubt that we're recruiting him as a DT. Don't believe he's waiting for NSD but then again, there's only a couple weeks left..

I think Onyegbule was in line to play a bunch at H-Back and TE until that torn pec in Spring drills. He seemed to be one of Wyatt's faves his freshman year, and put on a ton of muscle and weight to move over to a more natural fit for him. Apparently his recovery was hampered by a bunch of other minor injuries.

I don't think TE is that weak even with the lack of depth. There's still a chance that Grant will apply for the extra year, although that looks doubtful because we haven't seen anything about it in the news. But without him, Daniels would still be the primary blocking TE and McFarland will hopefully be an actual pass-catching target next year. Combine that with the multiple talents of Swaim and we're basically set. Caleb Bluiett was working out solely at TE last summer, so I wouldn't be surprised if they finally changed his position on the web site. I think Swoopes is basically an H-Back once Heard steps on the campus anyhow.

Forgot about Bluiett, an unknown quantity though.

I was surprised to not see Onyegbule more during the past season. Using his receiving skills at H or TE seems like a great fit to me with his size.

I'm with 11 to the extent that I think Heard looks like the kind of true badass that beats out anybody for the job. I am more excited about JH over a year before he even hits campus than anybody ever.

I am thinking that there will be little action remaining other than Billings. That is based on NO inside information just gut feel.

By my very rough calculations, Texas is currently 2 over the 85 limit if no one else leaves or releases a scholarship for whatever reason and that assumes Grant does NOT request and receive a Medical Hardship Waiver to get another year of eligibility AND last year's walk-on scholarship recipients retain their scholarships.

Based on my past guestimating performance, there will probably be 6 more verbal commitments before the week is out -

When we were sitting at 13 commits, I heard that if everybody came back, we'd have 85.

That matches my best guess.

We are now at 15 for the 2013 class putting our total at 87 if all current scholarship holders return and are kept on scholarship.

Instead of starting a new thread about Billings, I thought this would be as good a place as any to talk about him since many thought he would be #16.

According to Hookem.com, TCU has been coming on strong with Billings. He supposedly had a great in-home visit with Patterson yesterday and had a great official visit to the campus the weekend before. Supposedly, Billings wants to get away from home for college, which means Baylor could be the odd-man out. In any event, the sense is that Texas will be in a dog fight with both TCU and Baylor for Billings. If Texas loses out on him, TCU (instead of Baylor) could very well be the surprise winner.

Isn't recruiting fun?
