wholesale prices on bags of mulch in Austin?

Need to grab about 100 bags of mulch and thought there would be some places in town that would have wholesale prices so I don't have to pay Home Depot/Lowes prices but haven't found anything online.

Any suggestions?

100 bags is about 4-8 cubic yards depending on the bag size which screams for bulk delivery. That's not a truck full so see if any neighbors need some and split the delivery charge to save a few more bucks. Depending on the type of mulch you're looking for there may be lower priced options for bulk delivery than Natural Gardener. Don't get me wrong, they're a great source and I've bought from them before when I needed smaller quantities. Look in the Yellow Pages or YellowPages.com under "Topsoil" to get a list of local suppliers. I just got 15 yards of Dillo Dirt delivered from Advanced Organic Materials and couldn't have been happier with the price and service.

I think the kind of mulch ive used in the past is that Texas Native Hardwood mulch. I guess I thought bags would be the easiest to transport since i dont have a truck and I don't really want to get out there and fill ~100 bags on my own...

BTW, how well does that mulch hold up? I don't have as much to do and have always gotten the bagged Cypress mulch which seems to hold up fairly well--at least a couple of years.

Take a pickup to Austin Wood Recycling on RM 1431 between Cedar Park and I-35. They dump a load of the exact same stuff you get in the bags loose into your bed. I once did the math and think figured it was about 50% off this way.

I think you have a Gardenville in Austin, they willl deliver. Please don't buy Cypress mulch; it is an unsustainable crop and wetlands along the Gulf coast are destroyed to harvest it.
save our cypress

it holds up ok but it gets scorched in the summers, so you should replace it every year, I just don't have time to and I'm finally getting around to it.

What I meant by filling up the bags is some places have mounds of it in their lots and you can take what you need and they charge you by the bag. I wasn't about to do that.

Thanks for the other ideas, I'm totally ok with them dumping it on my driveway...

ballrific,

Cypress mulch sucks. use shredded native cedar. It's the best general purpose mulch there is.
Get it delivered in bulk. All of the sources mentioned above are good.
