Whoa....hold up. Juwan Mitchell withdraws...

Maybe he didn't like the notion of playing for Eastern New Mexico?

(it's a joke, look it up)
I am glad he changed his mind. Prolly saw he has lots of opportunity here.

I couldn't figure out why he was even considering the portal.

A true freshman in 2019 that played in 11 games and started in 3 of them. He was far from riding the bench. McCullough would be graduating or no longer eligible and he would no doubt have a good opportunity to play a great deal in the fall and possibly even be a starter at LB.

Plus he will have a good opportunity for significant playing time and proving himself in the spring with 2 LB's out.

The talk of how he walked out on The Eyes after a game makes him sound like the very sort of talented player Stoops et al would turn a blind eye to as long as he produced. Then, we would all bash Stoops and others who allowed a guy like that to keep playing.

First off, there is nothing wrong with bashing Stoops, some days I wake up in the morning and start my day with bashing Stoops.

With that said, Mitchell Showed a lot of Immaturity last season, he may be coming back, but he needs to prove he can act like an adult and support his team, school and his teammates.

As a player, he did some good things, but he is far from irreplaceable, the biggest asset he brings is that he is here, we know what he can do, and he will know the defense going into next year. If he left, we would find someone with his abilities but we would have to get that guy up to speed. In this regard, Mitchell is a valuable asset.

Well, do we really know he left before The Eyes and if he did was there a reason and when I was 19 years old or 20 or 30 or 40 sometimes I did/do/will do the wrong thing in a moment without thinking it through...

Looks like he's had some academic struggles from his high school days. Don't know if academics played into any of this...? On the field, he's looked pretty solid thus far, especially for an underclassman.

Former Mater Dei stars Pierre, Mitchell back on the map

"Juwan Mitchell, ILB, 6-2, 225

Also known as JuJu, Juwan Mitchell was recruited by FBS schools out of high school like Syracuse and Colorado State, but never pulled an offer as he just missed qualification. Plus, he had his strongest year as a senior which put him behind the eight ball, as national signing day arrives just two months following the season.

Hence, he ended up at Milford Academy (New Berlin, N.Y.) -- a prep school, with former teammate Eddie Lewis, who has now ascended to Rutgers -- where Mitchell led the conference in tackles, and became qualified by picking up credits and improving his SAT score."

[can't say he doesn't work hard on his grades]

Man...I started this thread but you guys are taking it deep in the breakdown.
I was thinking real simply here...
Talented player at key position gets a little crossways with team and decides to quit.
Talented player at key position changes mind.
Happy he did and good to have talented player at key position back.
:)

Too bad Mack Brown couldn't do much in reality....

Always with the negative, I'm having a good day, don't ruin my vibe.

if you read this thread

No need to be condescending. The fighting with teammates isn't mentioned on this thread and I hadn't heard of it. The leaving before the eyes was discussed, and it was both asked (unanswered) if it really happened as well as if there was a valid reason, so I can't definitively say it was something immature. And it apparently only happened once at most, which isn't a season-long pattern.

The DE transfer was the fighter

Fighting with teammates at the start of the season. Disrespecting the culture by not singing The Eyes. It's been pretty well talked about, I'm sure if you read this thread you would find a few examples.
Jacoby Jones was the fighter.
