The Go to Player. I look at this as the player the team goes to when a score is needed. This season, I would think that Kat will be that player. I look for her to be the focus of the offense this season although she should have plenty of help from the rest of the guards. Her experience is the reason that I look for her to this player. No question that Cokie would have opened things up more for her by being a strong offensive force inside but she should have enough help on the perimeter to keep opponents from doubling up on her.
And Babhorn I totally agree with you. There will be 2 froshmans that will make a impact this year also. I think the fans will be surprise at the play of all the froshmans. They will see also, why GG took K.Harris as a walk on player. She had offers to several colleges. This is just where she wanted to go.
While I expect Kat to be the go to player, I am excited to see how much AG has improved this season. I think that a double double is a realistic goal for her this season with the increased minutes she is likely to play.
Since Kat, AT and AG are the obvious choices, and we have several other strong freshmen who might step up, I will go with Kenisha as a potential darkhorse. Not because I have any special insight, far from it in fact, but because I liked the tape I saw of her online a while back. That might be silly because 2A HS ball is obviously not the best way to judge a player's potential impact at the Div. 1 level, but I was still impressed. She definitely plays taller and bigger than her 5'11 height might suggest. Whatever happens, with so many newcomers, it's going to be fun to see who breaks out and has a big first season with the Horns.
I like this young lady. She walked on to our program with the confidence, swagger and moxy and made the team.
I don't know if this is good or bad.
Has our team depreciated to the fact that any pretty good player can walk on and make the team
AND/OR
is Kenisha Harris that daggum good and she blew the coach's socks off?
She has two 2A championships under her belt so she knows how to win and she wants to win. Hopefully she brings it and her confidence, moxy and swagger transpires to the other players. I'm thinking this could really be a good thing for our team. She's playing and competing for a job. Hopefully this will raise the level of intensity of everyone on the team.
I've never seen her play besides youtube videos and I don't know anything about her besides what I've read online. I hope she's got the "IT" factor. I guess it just dawned on me that she walked on to a team coached by Coach G. And made the team. Hmmm. Well I'm behind Kenisha - HOOK'EM HORNS!!!!
Owww! talk about being thin in the post. This team is right down skinny. Losing Harris hurts the inside depth. Guess we will see a lot of small lineups at times, depending on foul trouble. Our wings and guards are going to have to work at rebounding.
Next season's team will have at least five post players which is probably one more than the minimum needed. Having Kristen change her mind and losing Cokie to injury really leaves the team thin inside this season. Five posts and eight wings/guards is probably pretty close to the mix needed, especially with the players being able to play multiple positions.
Of course, Anne Marie will really be experienced by the time conference rolls around, never mind next season. Gotta look for that silver lining. And keep my fingers crossed that AG, Kat and Anne Marie stay healthy and foul free.
