Who Should Start On Friday?

Jungmann? Since he pitched on Sunday, he would be starting with slightly less than his usual rest. Use our usual weekend rotation?

I expect Augie will start Green Friday and use Jungmann conditionally--if Texas wins Friday, Augie might save Jungmann for a potential Sunday rubber match and start Workman on Saturday. Lose Friday, however, and I imagine Augie will call on Jungmann.

I think Taylor is our best big-game starter, and Augie seems to think so, too. Last year, he deployed Jungmann exactly as I described above--holding him for the decisive third game with TCU after Texas won the first one, but then sending him out for game No.2 against LSU after Texas dropped the series opener.

Then again, those decisions could've been entirely coincidental or predicated by rest and availability.

Gem hit the nail on the head, Cole on Friday with 5 days rest is a better option than Taylor on just 4 days. Then we go with Jungmann Saturday if we lose Friday with 5 days rest or Workman who would be going on normal seven days rest if we are up 1-0. Then if we go to game three after being up 1-0 Jungmann Sunday on 6 days rest.

In either scenario the only set pitcher is Cole on Friday.

This will be three big pitchers duels and runs will be at a premium. We really need the bats to be clutch. This series will be very tough.

Green vs. Purke is what we want. I looked at Purke's starts closely...we can shell this guy. Preys on week opponents that can't handle heat. Teams that can tend to shell him early for lotta hits/runs and he gets yanked.

I'd also throw Taylor game 2 against whoever and let him slam it shut. No mercy. If we have to go 3, just trust in Workman and the bats. I say we throw our 2 best arms and close it fast. And Green vs. Purke is exactly the right matchup we want. Jungmann vs. anyone they got is great for me as well. lol
