Who is the radio announcer?

Who is this doing the Hawaii game on 1300? At first I thought they were just using the Hawaii broadcast and was too cheap to send anyone to Hawaii, but I soon realized that this guy has no knowledge of the University of Hawaii and is clearly working for 1300. He kind of sounds like an announcer I've heard doing Colorado Rockies games in the past, but isn't recognizable to me as anyone who has been associated with UT sporting events. Who is this?

That's odd. I went to 1300's website to listen in from Idaho and it's broadcasting Fox Sports, not the Hawaii game.

Anybody got a score? C'mon, damnit, don't be stingy with the updates!

During the bottom of the 4th, he mentioned his name.

He's David Garrett, a Clear Channel program director/on-air announcer for KEBC-AM "Fox Sports Radio 1340" in Oklahoma City and play-by-play guy for the University of Central Oklahoma. He's also an on-air talk show host.

David Garrett

Because Craig Way needs to be in Austin for Sunday's men's basketball game, and because Moreland no longer is available, Garrett is filling in.

I wonder if he's auditioning for Craig's job when Craig's kids get out of high school and he moves on to a bigger market.

2-0, Texas in top of the 6th. Jungmann's given up just 2 hits.

Incidentally, I found a free audio feed off the Hawaii website--ESPN 1420AM. It's a Honolulu station, so I'm sure the commentary will be slanted toward the Warriors.

Texas just scored to go up 2-0 in the fifth.

I thought it might be Dave Garrett. I've heard him do softball games in the past, and he gave his name as 'Dave Garrett', which is something you just don't forget. However, I did not remember what he sounded like, so it was just a guess based on the name I remember hearing on the station.

Sorry I didnt hear his name clearly. I am happy that I am getting the 1300 feed in Round Rock this late at night.

Is he the guy that does the Big 12 Baseball Touranment webstream, games? Maybe that is why he sounds familiar.

In the 7th, Garrett said he didn't know if we would hear him in any additional baseball broadcasts this season.

But he said that if there were any more conflicts re available KVET announcers, he'd be happy to fill in.

He was the play-by-play announcer for the Dallas Cowboys, and it shows.

I have no idea if a career move to Austin would make sense for him, but he gets my vote if/when Craig moves on to a bigger market.

don't forget he was play by play for ou-sucks football when switzer was there -- and switzer got him hired as dallas cowboy voice when bareeee was coach and Sham quit. he was fired or quit when switzer was fired at dallas.

Elgin,

Thanks for that.

Garrett's resume conveniently has a 10-year early career gap (from 1983 - 1992), during the time when he could have announced for Switzer's cheaters.

It's curious (and maybe telling) that he leaves that off.

I retract my vote.
