I know we've lost a lot to graduation the last 2 years, plus the 2 top recruits who left the team last year (Watts & Webb I think). Just wondering who all is left.
OT: Ulatoski/Hix
OG: Tanner/Huey
C: Hall/Burnette
OG: Dockery/Mitchell or Hall
OT: Allen/McGaskey
I doubt any of the True Freshman play. I don't know about Hall at Center, I think he's better at Guard but I don't think Burnette is ready to be a starter.
Tackles- T Allen, Hix, Ulatoski, McGaskey
Guards- C Dockery, Huey, Tanner, Hall
Center- B Burnette, Hall
Others- David Snow, Moore, Mitchell, G Smith, Buchanan. (all wild cards)
I think TRAY will back up Ulie. Hix is going to be good. Tanner will have to prove he is better than Huey, the next Studdard. Chris will be the best thing Mac has ever had- the guy who pushes/ inspires everyone. If Snow and Buchanan come along, this will be a great group.
Re MBTF, Hall has settled in at starting center, Rimington watch list for nation's best center, etc. Don't know what happened to Burnette? There was talk of health issues last season?
The young OGs and OTs got a lot of work last year due to our OL injury situation. If Dockery and Ulatoski stay healthy, I think we're in pretty good shape.
I think it's great to see Hix, Huey, and Allen push the older guys.
Tray was the back-up for Tony until he went down. Chris started for him the next game, not Tray. Then in the bowl game Hix starts and Ulie moves to left for Tony, with Chris at center, IIRC. Tray has not beat out anyone to start yet. But he was at left, which is where I think Ulie will be next season, starting. Hix takes the right side. But we shall see.
In retrospect all of the injuries and junk that went down last year were probably a good thing sicne so many of these young guys have some fairly significant minutes under their belts already.
Ulatoski slides over to LT. Hix has a year of experience and has to be the favorite to get the other starting job at RT. Now if Adam has any troubles I think Kyle slides over to LT. Huey has to start this year. Just can't see how Tanner could beat him out. Odd to see McGaskey at OT but I think he or Allen move back to OG after this season. Buchanan has a great shot at playing this year.
I think the interesting thing is barring injury, who relieves Adam during games. Hix is the next best OT but he needs rest too. Do you put Allen, McGaskey, or Buchanan in there?
Ulie has had trouble with the speed rush from outside, so he could have difficulty at left, but think that is the plan. Tray may be first back-up at both sides at first, before working in the others. Hix should start, as well as Huey. Everyone else earns minutes, barring injury. After last year, you can hardly say that.
Someone says Tanner will start. I am with hornfarmd. His lineup I like. I say Huey starts over Tanner and of hornfarmd's lineup I don't know for sure at tackle Allen or Hix.
Going off the spring game (if that means anything), Tanner started ahead of Huey, as did Allen ahead of Hix (right? - or did both Allen and Hix start b/c of Ulatoski's injury?). Crap, now I don't even remember. Regardless, this should be a talented Oline capable of getting the job done.
