Bill Schoening hands down. Cooperstein too. Craig Way is the best basketball play-by-play announcer currently working at The Zone, and for UT...that can be said of him.

Craig as a play-by-play is everything he is not as a talk show host. Sorry Craig. But he cannot stray into tangents and nonsense geography lessons of what towns in West Texas have Dairy Queens open past 8 with managers named Toby, the name of the head coach of Single A, BFE Panther Tanks hoops team.....etc...

I love his call of games. I missed Bill at first and enjoy hearing him on Spurs games but Craig is where it is at for me when it comes to games.

I think it is who(m) you grew up listening to.

It makes you think back to a better time in your life.

For our Dads it was Harry Caray, Jack Buck and Vin Scully.

For me it is Ron Franklin and Bill Shoenig.

I still maintain that of all of the sports that Bill did fantastically, that baseball on a lazy Tuesday afternoon was his wheelhouse.

You could just open the window, let the breeze in, turn on the radio and fall in and out of sleep listening to him call a game and actually picture yourself being there.


Btw, Vin Scully still does this after all of these years.

Way is an excellent play by play announcer. Why does the color commentator still have a job??? He says the most obvious things and sounds drunk. "That's a nice play by DJ there because Texas needs a basket".. no ****.

1300 the Zone radio shows are bad except for Bucky in the morning. I listen to Shawn, Chip and David during the drive home. Way is boring as a talk show host and such a HOMER!

Strongly disagree...I love Eddie as color.  He is very knowledgeable and I appreciate his insight.  Who gives a flip if he isn't polished...this is basketball not political commentary!  Personally I am thrilled with the team of Craig and Eddie.Craig and Bill were great and in a different way so is the Craig and Eddie duo.  I still would prefer Craig over Bill - You can't beat Craig's passion.  We're very fortunate.

I like listening to Craig Way call a game on the radio...except for one annoying habit (to me). And that is: "so and so from such and such high school in the (fill in the blank) 'Greater Houston Area,' 'Greater Austin Area,' 'Greater Dallas Area'" CUT IT OUT. Say "Houston Aldine" and be done with it.

Craig Way is a great play-by-play man, but I could do without his in-depth description of the uniforms down to the piping and logo on the shorts. We only need is a one word description, orange or white.
