Who else is pissed?

I can't help it. I'm angry. No, it's probably major jealousy. OK, it definitely is jealousy. Congrats to KU, but it is so obvious how close Texas really is to doing this very same thing.

We'll have something to hope for if all the players come back and don't run off to the NBA. Then we can expect a solid program like Kansas has where they typically have upper classmen filling out the roster.

Some of you amaze me. How am I embarrassing myself? Is it terrible to wish we as UT fans could have the moment KU fans are having? That's all I'm saying.

I'm not pissed; just happy for Kansas. KU matched up a lot better with Memphis than we did.

Even though I don't particularly like Memphis, I feel for them right now. That's gotta hurt.

I'm certainly jealous, but I believe we will be there in the near future. We were a top 10 team this year but not top 4 this was not our year.

I do feel for Memphis...not a fan of them at all but that really has to suck.

I thought this was going to be about Arthur not getting MVP. Chalmers threw up **** all game, hits one three to force OT, and everybody forgets Arthur going 9-13 with 10 rebounds?

That's gotta be one ****** up rabbi blessing your posts, KosherHorn.

Not pissed, a little jealous of a great program, definitely envious of their moment, and pretty damn excited because our program is getting closer every year.

Actually I'm pretty happy because this lends itself to my theory: just keep running really good teams out there and, one of these years, you get the Chalmers shot. It took them 20 years, but they got it. Texas is on the same path. One of these years.

I'm pretty happy. I think the Big 12 did need a championship to validate its basketball credentials. I'm glad KU got one, and I'd like to think that they won in large part to playing in what I believe to be the best conference in the NCAA this year versus the barely D1 CUSA. I'd also like to think that the mega battles KU and UT have had the past few years had something to do with how they performed in the stretch run.

There is also a calm satisfaction knowing Rick Barnes is leading the program to the top as well. While I was watching KU cut the nets down, I just had this feeling the Rick will get us there one day. It's possible (some would say probable) that no one on next years roster will be part of a championship, but I see it happening within the next 10 years. I will happily watch the program grow until that moment.

I don't know about being jealous of another team's National Championship because we're close. I suppose I could understand directing jealousy toward another school and anger toward my own if it didn't compete at a high level, but for the 99.99% part, I just revel in the great level of play we get from Barnes' teams. I feel pretty confident Texas will get a squad with all the ingredients there someday, and maybe that someday won't be too far in the future.

I know I'm one of the few but I never want a Big XII team to win a national title. Why let another team in the conference win a recruiting battle by using that against us? We had half our conference make the dance, thats enough validation on how tough our conference is.

Memphis playing in the "barely D1 USA" sure had them prepared to beat 5 seed Mich. State (who beat us), 1 seed UCLA, and 2 seed UT and take the national champs to OT.

Congratulations to Kansas. They earned it.

Big XII won the championship.

The team that won... I saw play at Erwin this season. Longhorns beat that team. Then played straight up with them to within 1 pt before losing in the Conf. tourney.

Texas played Kansas actually better this season than did Memphis. Horns just went cold in the aircraft hanger down in Houston last weekend.

So, are you asking if we are pissed that we got beat by a better team? If so? Then yes. I hate losing.

I can understand the Big East getting the best TV contract, since they dominate the Northeast, and their teams are in 3 of the top ten metro areas by population (NY, Phil., DC).

Pac-10 has all of the West coast, including LA, SF, Seattle, Phoenix (4 of top 15).

But the Big 12 has metro area populations to match or nearly match that of the other conferences. DFW and Houston are nearly as big as Chicago and Detroit combined.

I suppose, in fairness, the SEC and the Big Ten may have more total population in all their states than the Big 12 has, but in a lot of cases the interest is more divided, as the biggest states have more than one power conference represented (Florida, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Georgia), but I'll admit that Ohio's fervor for the Buckeyes probably isn't much diminished by the more localized interest in the Bearcats.

And, no, I'm not really looking for all the games to be on bigger initial network TV. I'd be happy with just including the semifinals for now.

Not really pissed, not really elated. Congrats to KU though. They made the plays when it mattered.

Thinking about what might have been stings a little. It's too bad we didn't match up well against Memphis. A KU-UT game for all the marbles would have been really cool, assuming we would have gotten past UCLA once again. So close, and yet so far. Hopefully next year we will go even farther.

Oh yeah, petty jealousy is aggy.

If you're pissed when Texas doesn't win the National Championship in basketball I guess you're never happy.
