I'd guess this universe is a small speck in the grand scheme of things. It kind of bums me out though to think that I'll probably die not knowing the answer to questions like this.

star trek V actually has my least favorite scene in film history...kirk, spock and bones sitting around singing row row row your boat...so painful to watch i needed a shot of romulan ale to wash away the pain...

If It/He/She/They wanted you to know, you would know.

So the question becomes, why don't we know?

God(s) doesn't care one way or the other of our opinion of it (Him). The things He cares about we may even find boring.

God(s) does not exist in our reality.

We are too stupid to understand. Why try to teach a dog algebra?

There is no God. Everything just happens though impossible amounts of luck and beyond our understanding of probability. When we study the creation of the universe, our logic and reason begins to fail (physics), but we'll figure it out eventually... maybe...

God has let us know through the one true religion. He has decided not to give us this knowledge himself, but funnel it through a selection of "special humans". He has his fingers crossed in hopes we deduce which one of the special humans is the correct special human. Otherwise, our stupidity/hubris will lead us to endless torment and suffering. (On a personal note - I hope He didn't pick an Asian or black guy. If He did, a lot of us are ******).

Knowing would actually cause you harm. God does not wish to cause you harm, so you cannot know.

Not knowing would cause you harm, God wishes to cause you harm (possibly for an ultimate good/goal), so you may not know.
