Who are the seniors?

I was just reading roster notes and am a little confused.

Carla's and Earnesia's notes both say they received medical red-shirt for 2005/06, which would give them each one year of eligibility after this year. Both are listed as seniors on the roster. At what point do we know whether they are coming back for 2009-10? Do we celebrate senior day with them this year and possibly again next year? - which I would be happy to do!

- Just curious.

We will be celebrating Senior Day this year for them. They will not be returning next year

Thanks, Dino22. That's the same thing I have been hearing. Time to wish our four seniors a fond fare thee well this weekend.

Is this something new? I know that earlier this season Earnie said she planned to be back and at the same time I heard there was not decision about Carla....if this is true I am even more nervous about hearing news of more commits for next season.

makes me nervous, too. 4 seniors graduating, and 2 commits...that leaves us with 9 on the roster next year.

bummer. i was really hoping Carla and Earnie would be back next season.

I've been nervous about this since we only signed Cokie and Lauren during early signing period!!

We'll know for sure soon but if we sign two more as we are hoping for and Earnie and Carla come back, the roster will be up to 13, a bit more than Coach G has said she likes to have. But probably manageable. I hope they do come back but I have doubts about their returning. They would provide a ton of leadership if they came back. Their worth to the team is not always shown by the stats.

I realize that Earnie has knee pain and i can understand her not returning; perhaps the same is true for Carla (a physical ailment), I don't know. But I'm wondering if this has something to do with the demise of this "team" this season.

It is one thing to be playing your heart out because your eligibility is up, maybe it's quite another to "choose" to not play your last season and have it know to the team during the current season. Clearly, Earnie is not the player she was in previous years. Carla seems OK, but then why is she not playing her last year? Maybe she's not OK, I'm not sure.

But to have two players choose to not return to the team, and that is a known fact during this year, maybe that has something to do with the "change" that I have noted in this team this season. And it occurred over Christmas break. This team has not been the same since then.

Of course, these are just the ramblings of a silly old BB fan, and have no credibility whatsoever!

We all know Carla has had issues with being homesick. Maybe she's not returning due to that, that's reasonable to me. She's going to have an incredible finish at UT, with a diploma (which is the MAIN goal) and a chance to advance in life. Carla's passion is fashion (

).

Kudo's to Carla for sticking with Coach G the past two years. Thank You Carla, and Good Luck!!!!

That's exactly my point, to play at this high level, you passion has to be basketball - first and foremost. I can understand if it is not - that's OK, and I'm very grateful that Carla stayed these two years. I'm just saying for a team to have some players whose heart may not be completely with the game, might just make the difference we have seen this year. I'm not criticizing either player, I'm just trying to figure out why this team changed so drastically in the middle of the season. That's all. I don't mean to point out or criticize any players at all, but with the knowledge that Carla and Earnie are not returning next year, when they could - it might make a difference now. That's all - I'm just so puzzled at the change this team took mid season. Sigh. Twill all be over too soon, I fear!

Rexy....i totally understand your point about the passion (or lack of) for basketball, and i agree. Yet, these kids go off to college and things change...i'm just trying to understand both sides. And IF the hearts of Carla or Earnie are not completely with the game, or Coach G's game, it hasn't been just those two since the semester break.

I just don't see the change being totally with these two. We just don't seem to have chemistry with 5 players at the same time right now. I hope it will come....with time.

And I agree completely with what you are saying - it is not just these two players, it is something with the entire team. I think it is too late to salvage this season - there's always next year and the hope for a more positive outcome - which I know is in our future with Coach G at the helm!

this season has taken a turn for the worse. i don't get it. there is zero chemistry....and if i'm not mistaken, i swear there was some great chemistry earlier this year. and i don't think it was just because we were playing easy, non-conference opponents. and then, like rexy said, after christmas break, things started to look different. it became the jekyll and hyde team. had a few tough, unexpected losses...beat downs from OU and A&M...and then, a nice turn around with a 5 game winning streak. since then it's been like watching a train wreck. complete regression.

You can rest assure the coaching staff has a surprise for next year. We need to get the dead weight out of there. After watching that game last nite. Am ready for new blood to come to the campus. New blood will fight and have some passion for the sports. What I am seeing now, is free rides for a degree.

Apparently, Coach G is looking at JUCO player Danielle Adams of Jefferson College (MO). She is 6'1" and plays wing.

I hope Coach G can sign Hill, Bone, and Adams. There have been rumblings regarding further attrition from the current squad, so we may need all three players.

If Coach G is all she is cracked up to be there will be a lot of new faces on the team next year. The games I have seen did not show the kind of basketball players who can get Texas back where Texas belongs. I'm sure these girls are great individuals and work really hard. They just can't play with the likes of Rutgers, Duke, UConn, and even A&M.
