Whirlpool repair?

I ended up calling Sears. They charged me $65 to come to the house and diagnose the problem. A relay switch and fan for a repair cost of $420 and most of that was labor. I asked the repairman if he would give me the part numbers? Not only gave me the part numbers but a phone number to a parts store to see if they were in stock. He also showed me how to install the parts. I purchased the parts and installed them myself. Total cost including the $65 paid to Sears was $210.

I had a similar experience with Sears a few years ago when a part on my washer went bad. Guy came out and he told me what part that was bad and how to fix it myself. I was only out the $60 for the service call and like $20 for the plastic part at an online parts site. So, yay Sears.

Glad i read this. I purchased a new Whirlpool Gold French Door fridge from Sears. I'll need to file this in my mind for future reference.

These appliance repair sites will save you the $65 and having to be home to meet the guy:

And there are lots of videos on youtube where you can watch someone actually do the repair. The only scary part is the diagnosis where you may think you are not really identifying the problem, but this is for the most part really easy stuff if you can turn a screw driver and maybe read a multimeter.
