I'm going to be buying a new hdtv pretty soon and I think I've narrowed it down to two that I am looking at. Of course if anyone has another suggestion I would love to here it. I do not want to go over $800 though. I would mostly use the tv for watching movied (some blu-ray some not) and playing my ps3, but I would obviously watch some tv on it too. So which of these two would you buy and why? Thanks for any help you can give me!

Well the obvious response would be to go wtih the Toshiba - more bang for your buck.

There will be people that will say the 1080p vs 720p is a dealbreaker and others will say its not really necessary at this time for basic users like you and me. (We couldnt tell the difference).

I bought the 32" LCD Samsung and still love their products.

I would go for the Toshiba.

If you are looking to go lower, I would look at the Toshiba Regza 37" @ 720p. I got it for 600 dollars from Fry's.

I'm a huge Toshiba fan. I just got rid of mine, but not because I was unhappy with. Had to upgrade to the Elite. IMO, Toshiba is the best band for your buck. Check out OneCall.com for some great deals. I also highly recommend Allstar Video on Richmond if you are in Houston.

I've also been looking at the Toshiba. Fry's had it advertised over the weekend in the DFW area for $697.
I think i'll be getting one.

Toshiba because of price, size and 1080p. Although, at 40" you're not going to notice the difference between 720p & 1080p.

The Sammy is the better TV. That being said, I too would get the Toshiba for the 3" more than the 720 vs. 1080.

I have the Samsung 1080 DLP. Wife has the Samsung LCD 1080w/120hz. The 120 hz is noticeably better for sporting events.

If you can stretch your budget by $150, your best bet is the 46" 1080p panny plasma at costco w/ a 2 year warranty.
