I don't watch alot of movies but I'm thinking we'll be staying home alot more with the little one on the way, so which should I sign up for re: online rentals?

I know one of the pros for blockbuster is that you can return them directly to the store but I wasn't sure of any other pros/cons with blockbuster vs netflix.

Blockbuster used to be a better deal, but they've been reducing the number of movies and raising the price. Also, we found that there would be months when we were too busy to get our money's worth and other months when we would have liked more movies. Therefore, I've been using RedBox lately and it's not bad for mainstream movies. It's probably not a good choice if you like more obscure movies in which case Netflix is best. Virtually every McDonald's has one of these RedBox kiosks and the cost is only $1 per day. You can check availability and reserve the movie online before going to the store to pick it up.

Netflix is pretty good. They tend to have more selection. Also, the fact that Blockbuster sometimes censors their movies without telling you makes me never want to give them any business.

I've been using Netflix since 2002 and have loved it.

I've been boycotting Blockbuster since 1994. They pissed me off regarding some late fees back when I was in college so I swore to never use them again... 14 years and still going.

Netflix lets you watch movies online.

Blockbuster lets you return and swap out movies in their stores.

FWIW, I just signed up for a 2 week trial of netflix last week. Have already burned, er ripped

, thru 5 flicks. Turn around time is about 2 days. Haven't messed with the online viewing yet, but there is suppose to be some way to lock in the higher resolution files. Also, some of the guys over at thegreenbutton are working on a mediacenter plugin for the netflix online movies. If they ever get that thing up and running, it would go a long way to solidifying my netflix subscription.

Blockbuster sucks. Not because "its cool to dislike Blockbuster" but because its a horribly run company that engages in deceptive business practices.
