Where was this photo taken?

If I had to guess, I would say it is taken from Roy Spence's backyard in Stratford. Spence is the founder of GSD&M, the advertising/marketing company responsible for the "We're Texas" campaign.

I was at a house a few years back in that area and you walked out and saw that VIEW - Tower to Capital.

I'm pretty sure that the shot was edited by the guys at UT; last I checked, Dobie Center was not south of the State Capitol.

Goose, I think that building may be the old Texas Commerce Bank building on Lavaca, around 11th Street?

I hope that link works. Check out the far right. This pic has to be pretty old. Perhaps it is edited too. When was Dobie built? It should be blocking the view of the stadium from this angle.

If my Google Earth skills are correct, the main part of the photo is taken from somewhere around 2700 Valley Springs Rd, austin or possibly somewhere nearby on Stratford Drive.

Thanks for all the responses. I've looked for this particular view for a while, but never found it. It seems the capital and the tower were never aligned like this (they wouldn't fit in the same frame unless it was a panaroma.)

I'm thinking there is a little photoshop going on. However, I've seen the commercial during UT games, as well, where there are cars going across the bridge and clouds blowing over in a time-lapse fashion. Of course, I realize this could easily have been done with a computer, but it gave me hope that maybe UT isn't manipulating the skyline when there is so much "real" stuff to work with

I'm pretty sure that's the Westgate building to the right of the Capitol. Looks like everything from the Capitol to the right is part of one shot and the Tower & DKR are dropped in.

Yeah, it's a composite. It *could* be from the Red Bud area, but then you're missing quite a few other buildings.
