Where to spend 3 months in Argentina?

I am planning on spending January-April in Argentina but I haven't decided where yet. So far I am looking at Cordoba and Buenos Aires. Am I missing another good city to live? What are the good areas in Buenos Aires for a college aged person to live?

I am 22 and will be a recent college grad who is hoping to learn Spanish while down there. What would be the best way to learn? Take classes, or live with a family, or something else?

Thanks for all your help.

I spent about 3 months studying abroad in Cordoba but I traveled all around. The best way to learn a language is always to stay with a family if you have the opportunity. Is this a trip your planning on your own or is through an organization?

In the bed of an Argentine senorita.

But if you can't pull that off -- to learn the language, I'd try to hook up with a family. BA is probably your best bet -- incredible, cosmopolitan city. I would take some side trips, excursions, etc. (if you like to fly fish, and you do NOT go down to the Bariloche area, you are an idiot of aggy magnitude. That part of Patagonia and the Andean foothills is also the most beautiful place on earth that I have ever been).

But for a young guy, trying to learn that language and have a good time, BA is where it's at.

I'll write more later, but I would recommend Buenos Aires.

It will be hot and humid, but you will be centrally located and you can get to Mar del Plata, Colonia (Ur), & Punta del Este (Ur) much easier from Buenos Aires than you can from anywhere else.

Of course from Cordoba you could make it out to Villa Carlos Paz, but still... Buenos Aires is probably your ideal situation.

Of course, "horizontal lessons" are the best way to pick up Spanish, but the "institutes" were that is offered don't have accompanying textbooks.

I went to a graduation party at a boliche (dance club) last night until ~3:15am and my first class (teaching) was at 8:30am. I'm a little tired right now, so I will write more later.

Chau y suerte,

Napolitano
