where to go in ozarks?

good day gentle sirs and madams.

the lady friend, her dog, and i would like to take a drive up to the ozarks between christmas and new years for some enjoyable views, hiking, and conversation with townies. have any of you advice, reviews, or suggestions?

not looking to camp, more looking for a small town with close access to a state or national park and a few restaurants and a hotel.

I'm sure there are people more familiar with the Ozarks than me, but my wife and I spent some time in Eureka Springs recently and had a good time.

We drove through Eureka Springs last year in December and it looks beautiful. Maybe a little kitschy, but some cool looking motels and awesome scenery.
