Does anyone know where you can get Applewood or Cherry or that type of stuff in log form.

I know you can get the chips but a friend of mine wants to get logs for his smoker.

i love this board. i assume if butler has apple and cherry he has other stufff too like pecan, mesquite etc.? i still have 1/2 cord of oak. i'd love to get some sweet wood and pecan.

pretty sure he can get anything, but not sure. i just get oak from him.

There's a place in Oak Hill just off 290/71 at 6900 Old Bee Caves Rd--just before the Y. It's called Dwayne Dougherty's Firewood, 288-0270. You can buy as much or as little as you want. Last time I was there they had quite a variety. Call for what they have in stock.

What kind of prices are we talking about here? I went to the wood place on 183 and Anderson Mill yesterday. They have some hickory and pecan wood. It was "stack your own" and was $40 for a 4' x 3' x 16" section. By my calculations, this comes to $320 per cord which seems expensive to me - especially to stack your own.

The wood looked really well seasoned and about perfect for smoking. Since you stack your own, you can get the sizes you want. I believe you could get as little as $10 worth for a 1.5' x 3' x 16" section. Not bad if you want a little pecan wood.
