My friends and I are planning a trip this summer to Europe, and I want t oget some feedback of places to go.

We will be there for a week. Should I go to London? Amsterdam? Munich? Italy?

What do you want to do/see? That's like saying, what kind of car should I buy...

Hope that helped

If you'll only be there for a week, pick two major cities at the most and explore them. Or stay in one city and schedule day trips to nearby sites. Otherwise your vacation will be an unenjoyable blur.

The first step is to pick the country you want to visit the most.

I just mainly wanna go to drink and meet other people. I really wanna go to London but I wouldn't mind seeing Amsterdam or Munich too.

If its between those three, where would you guys choose?

if you go for only one week, don't try to go to too many places unless you enjoy spending much of your trip on a train. amsterdam is a hell of a fun place, for a few things which are very 3:16ish. you could do london and amsterdam, flights aren't too expensive between the two.

i just got back from an amsterdam/brussels/munich/berlin trip. amsterdam was by far my favrite from that trip, though i enjoyed italy a lot when i was there a few years ago.

I traveled a month to Europe each of the last 2 summers doing basically what you are doing. Amsterdam is still my favorite city in Europe - only place I've been to twice (on purpose of course).

It's a close call then between Munich, Berlin, Madrid, Dublin, and Lagos Portugal for my second favorite.

If I were in your shoes, I would probably fly into Berlin then train to Amsterdam. Awesome history and partying in Berlin so a good mix of both.

I would also consider Amsterdam-Dublin.

Regardless, any of the cities above paired with Amsterdam would be a kick-*** time. You can fly cheap within europe (easyjet.com, ryanair.com, among others) so don't necessarily let distance apart be a factor. Don't do more than 2 cities if only 7 days and get an open jaw flight into one city and out of the other.

I agree with Amsterdam. It is a great city with many options for many interests. If you can go on the Queens birthday, go then. I had an awesome time. I think it is late April/early May. That party makes Marti Gras look lame.

Rome, Florence and Venice would be cool if he was taking his wife or gf, but not to go hang out and drink with buddy's.

I want to see more of Italy but after my experience with Italians in the Greek Islands and briefly in a stopover in Milan - I think it will be at least 10 years until I can stomach being around those idiots again.

Munich is a great place to drink. Best beer in the world, IMO. The beer halls are a pretty good atmosphere for mingling. Salzburg, Vienna, and Prague are all within striking distance. Prague is an outstanding place to drink and mingle. Cheep beer of excellent quality.

London is fun but very expensive.

Between freshman and sophmore years, I spent 9 months backpacking Europe with a few friends. Here's my advice...

Where you should go is subjective. It's all indicative on what your motivations for going are. (If you want to party, see historical landmarks, experience other cultures, etc.) I will say that the train system in Europe is unsurpassed. It's very effecient.

If this is a first time thing, I'd fly into Paris. It's pretty much the gateway to western Europe. If you want to head west into the British Isles you can take the chunnel. (And Brussels/Amsterdam too) If you want to head east you can take the Eurostar. If you want Eastern Europe, fly into Frankfurt. Best flying tip if you are seeing a lot of countries is to fly open jaw. (Into one city and out of another)

Again, my list will be subjective, but here are my takes:

London- Biased because I lived there for a bit. Very expensive city. (Ex: It's $6 for a KFC value meal here and 6 pounds there which is about $9 when converted) It's always nice to go somewhere where they speak the language. London is only a few hours from all the tourist sites in England. (Stonehenge, Stratford-upon-avon, York, etc.)

Dublin/Edinburgh- Both are equally as cool. Both most closely resemble Texas with regards to pride of their heritage. Go to Dublin if you are an outdorrs person and like scenery. Go to Edinburgh if you like to party and are a golf enthusist.

Amsterdam- Very pretty city. Tulips aplenty. Red Light District is very dirty and trashy. People are not modest and the women are hot. Obviously destination if you are a stoner.

Spain- Whole country is awesome. My personal favorite is Pamplona. Do the running with the bulls and have a story to remember. Valencia is cool during the tomatina festival. (Everyone in the street throws tomatoes at each other as they are brought in by the truck load) Madrid is a beautiful city. Ibiza is a non-stop party island.

Italy- Sans Venice, I hated it. Food was awesome but the entire country is dirty. Unless you want to do a Rome excursion, or have Catholic roots, skip it. It's too far out of the way anyhow.

Switzerland- Obviously the Alps. Try to go to Interlachen. They have raging rapids, bike tours, and many other extreme sports. More outdoors and scenery country.

France- Hated it. Paris pretty much sucks. Get your pictures of the Eiffle Tower, Notre Dame, Jim Morrison's grave and get out of there. Scenic countryside but there are better options.

Middle East- Cool when I was there...but I wouldn't recommend it now

Russia- Another bias since my wife is Russian. St. Petersburg and Moscow are great. (St. Pete's is much cheaper) It's more modernized than you are led to believe. Norway and Finland are right there.

Greece- Awesome country. A lot of history and places to go. Can't miss with this one. Take a cruise.

Germany- Only been to Frankfurt, Berlin and Munich. All were cool from the beer aspect. Admittingly didn't spend much time here.

Prague- Very picturesq. More romantic than Paris.

Austria- Only been to Vienna. Cool city, but nothing spectacular. (Although, it gave me chills to stand it spots where Hitler gave speeches)

Slovakia- Bratislava is off the beaten path and only an hour from Vienna. If you go with a German excursion...include it.

STOCKHOLM.
OSLO.
COPENHAGEN.

Make the loop around to all 3 if you can. Stockholm is a beautiful city. Norway has the fjords, which anyone who enjoys 'the outdoors' should see.
Plus, the Vikings have some very attractive descendants.
