Where/How to Sell Gold?

Anyone know a good place to sell gold?

My dad has about 1/2 pound of gold in jewelry that he wants to sell for cash. Anyone have any experience selling anywhere, and what does gold go for? Im in Houston if that is helpful at all, thanks.

Ya, I have seen that too. But any infomercial type business seems pretty shady to me. I dont know if I would trust sending gold in the mail to some company...I would rather do something in person.

those internet and infomercial ads are legit, but they pay much, much less than spot pricing for your gold.

I dont know the exact numbers, but lets say the spot price for a troy ounce is $1000.

Normal scrap gold places will offer around 10% less than spot (to cover themselves in case gold drops- and obviously to make money on).

Those infomercial places basically offer 60-65% of the spot price for your gold. and for desperate/ clueless/ lazy people, its a great option to get cash quick.

Just like gambling at a casino, the easier it is to play a game, the lower the payout percentage is for that game.

In Austin the best I found was 70-75% of spot.
