What restaurants that you have not been to before or that are new to your area are you looking forward to trying in 2008? (let's just assume that money is no object)

I'm in Dallas and I would like to go to Craft and the re-designed Mansion. I have heard great things already about the new regime there. Also, on the new restaurant scene, I am looking forward to Charlie Palmer (already opened downtown) and the Italian restaurant opening at the Stoneleigh. I also have never been to Bijoux and I hear that's great, so it's on the list too.

Houston,

My spring list include Reef (hopefully in the next couple of weeks), Catalan (I'm embarrassed I haven't been) and the Bank in hotel Icon.

I have also never been to Mockingbird bistro, so that's on the To Do list this year.

I also plan on a return trip to V&A's and some others.

Lonesome Dove is still fantastic....

I'm in Dallas and need to try a lot of places:

Fearing's
BLT Steak
Craft
N9NE
Aló Cenaduria and Piqueos
Charlie Palmer
Grimaldi's

I ate at Lonesome Dove a while back and it was awesome. Really, really good. But, then I heard the chef opened a place in NYC and another place in Fort Worth and did the whole celebrity chef thing. When the DMN reviewed Lonesome Dove, he was no longer in the kitchen and it was a pretty bad review. He responded to the review and said he closed in NYC spot and was going back to the Lonesome Dove kitchen. I hope it got back to where it was.

Going to hit up Per Se on my next nyc visit and Le Reve in San Antonio (supposed to be the best restaurant in the state)

Jive, I had dinner at BLT this week. I predict it will not be around at the end of 2008. The steak at any of the Dallas steakhouses (Al's, Bob's , Del Friscos, Nick and Sams, Dakotas, etc.) is better. The sides were nothing memorable either, although the warm popovers are really good. Two of the three desserts were left mostly uneaten, which at a table of big, hungry guys was remarkable. The room was nice and modern, but had no buzz to it all. It felt like a nice Westin dining room. Service was ok, but way too many misteps for that price range. All three courses involved us trading dishes because we were served someone else's plate.

I don't have any reason to go back. It will join Smith & Wollinsky's in the place where NYC steakhouses in Texas go to die.

I am going to Gary Danko in October and am already looking forward to it. The recent posts on another thread helped to heighten my exectations...hope it lives up to it.
As for local places BLT, Fearings, The New Mansion and I have still not been to Shinsei.

Jive,

Mine is very similar to yours....

BLT
Charlie Palmers
Fearings
N9ne
Shinsei

and still have not been to Stephen Pyles....

Had Grimaldis for the 3rd time in two weeks on Sat.....awesome....I love pizza any which style....love NY style and this is great stuff....now if we could get a good chicago style joint in Dallas I would be happy (miss the thin crust with homemade italian sausage and provolone cheese)

Grimaldis accidentally gave me two pies the other day......so had it on saturday and sunday for dinner....i was a happy man.
