Answering purely as a sports fan and removing all UT bias, I would rank the 1 and 2nd rounds of March madness #1.
I love college football more than B-ball, but the college b-ball post season is a lot better. In college football only 1 game really matters, and there is always politics and controversy over who should play that one game.
Sure some teams get left out of the tourney that should be in. But, for the most part, the tourney is fair and a champion is settled on the court.
I like pro ball, as well, but it doenst even come close to college sports in excitement and atmosphere.
First weekend of MM is number one hands down. Every game matters. Multiple games are going on at one time. Constant action for 4 days straight. It is much better than the actual Final 4. First couple of weeks of college football is a close 2nd. I'll watch whoever is playing. By the time it gets to the end of the season, I pretty much only watch games that affect the Horns.
MM used to be my number 1. It's just not the same anymore. Opening weekend in CFB is now my number 2 with the first spot going to UT's first game. OU and Aggy games follow that with MM in fourth.
My football bias here but any Saturday in the fall that Texas is playing is bigger and any day Texas is playing in a bowl game is bigger than that and if its BCS or NC game then that goes up by an order of magnitude. I love Saturday's in the fall and watching games from 11 in the morning until after midnight.
1. First four days of March Madness
2. NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs (don't knock it till you watch it)
3. College World Series
4. Super Bowl (although some of the recent Super Bowls have been duds)
5. World Series
No two ways about it, college football's postseason sucks.
The only problem I have with the opening weekend of college football (as opposed to UT's first game as I put #1) is that, for the most part its the Ohio States of the world verses the Northwestern States of the World. And, even back when they did play good opening games (Miami/Florida St) both teams were so out of sync that it was like watching Sun Belt game sometimes.
