Where do we end up now that Duke lost?

I was seeing a lot of predictions that we'd wind up top 5 following all the upsets, but considering Duke just lost as well, where do we end up? #3? #4?

Let's not downplay how great it is and how far it goes to complete a day to know that Duke lost.

Let's not forget what a kiss of death #1 was for us last year.

I'm thrilled to be in the top 10 and playing the way we are right now.

Gotta be #4. We can't pass Pitt or Kansas unless they lose again. UConn and Duke just lost in the "what have you done lately" game.

leading up to the #1 ranking last year, we progressively got worse and worse. This year, we seem to get better every game. We also had lofty expectations last year, while this texas team has been unheralded and has completely earned their ranking.

I just don't see a meltdown coming.

Texas and Kansas will be 2 and 3, not necessarily in that order, because every team in the top ten lost last week except Ohio State, Texas and Kansas. We might leapfrog Kansas because our wins last week were more impressive than theirs.

It will be short-lived, though, unless we beat A&M tomorrow night. If we do, then #1 ranking is within reach because Ohio State will go through several ranked opponents next couple of weeks.

Dang Rex, did you forget that BYU lost yesterday and you got them moving up from 9 to 5? Plus Purdue was donkey-kicked bu tOSU earlier this week by 20+ and you got them going from 12 to 8?

I see us at number 4. TOSU, Pitt, KU, TEXAS. We'll see tomorrow. Our defense will keep us in any game until Hamilton, Joseph, Brown etc can get hot. We have to get better shooting free throws. I know that is stating the obvious.

#1. Ohio St. (no brainer)
#2. Pitt (lost on Monday but to a ranked team, and they beat Texas earlier this year)
#3. Texas (moving up baby)
#4. Kansas

Notre Dame and Purdue may move up the most. I like Purdue as the #5 team but who knows. This is going to be the biggest reshuffling of rankings in one week that I can remember recently.

I see SDSU dropping. they played a ranked team and they got spanked. They are a good team with a great home court atmosphere, but a #1 or #2 seed they are not.

Villanova should drop out of top 10.

Syracuse..lost 4 in a row and will be out of top 15 I think.

Uconn won't move down very far. They lost in 2 OT to a ranked team. Very good team. Solid #2 seed.

Not sure why we care, but as far as the voters are concerned, they put very little time or effort into these rankings. The vast majority look at win/loss record and that is it. Thus, we are likely 5th.

Guess I should have been more specific. When it comes to determining where teams should fall in line when one team has beaten another who has beaten another (e.g., Texas, Kansas, UConn), it comes down to looking at the records and that is it.

Sadly, some voters do only look at records. That is why A&M got as high as #10 without playing one true road game all year.

I can see two scenarios. If the voters devoted some time and thoughts, then the top 4 would be Ohio State, Texas, KU and Pitt. If they don't care, then Ohio State, KU, Pitt and Texas. Either way, Pitt has to drop at least one spot because of their loss last week. I'd think the latter is more likely.

I guess there is a third possibility: Ohio State, KU, Texas and Pitt.

We split with Kansas and Pitt. They both have less losses and one less ugly loss (we have 1). Though our overall resume is more impressive now I say OSU, KU, Pitt, Texas. Should Pitt can navigate the BEast and finish with the same # of losses as Texas, then they will argue their resume would be stronger. We are all out of resume win opportunities after tonite.

Horns could lose at Aggies tonight and that does not mean they are still not a top 5 team because few teams win at College Station, tough place to play.

With tonight's win over A&M, we should move ahead of Kansas in the AP poll, but not in the Coaches poll. We'll be AP #1 within a couple of weeks because Ohio State will not go undefeated next 6 games. In fact, they may lose more than once.
