Where can I buy Turkey or Venison jerky?

I really like beef jerky as a snack but I know it isn't (likely) the leanest of meats. Any places I can buy Turkey or Venison jerky?

if you are serious about your jerky, I would contact woody's smokehouse in centerville, texas and have them send you some, they have beef, buffalo, venison, turkey and i have even had elk. it is a great place, a little expensive but it is worth it and they will ship it to you i believe.

$22/pound doesn't sound cheap but the HEB stuff is $4 per 4oz packet. That is $16 per pound and probably crap compared to this stuff.

Driven many miles out of the way to get my hands on some Praseks jerky. Peppered stuff is great...meats with plenty of coarse black pepper.

I'll second Woody's Smokehouse, I'll be stopping there on my way to Big D friday afternoon from Houston. I prefer it over Praseks but neither place is a bad choice.

Also if you go to Woody's in Centerville you'll walk away with a lot more than jerky. We usually end up with smoked pork tenderloin and turkey ternderloin and some cheese as well (although not as much as I'd like due to the fat content and my current waistline).

Bison/Buffalo is definitely the way to go...

Roger's Jerkey preferences:
Buffalo >>>>Elk>>>Beef>>>Venison>>>>turkey>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Pork

I agree with the Prasek's recommendation.

I admit I may be a bit biased as I grew up within 5 miles of the place.

In Los Angeles, Pemmican Jerky is about $5.99/4oz ~$24/lb for beef & $6.99/4oz. ~$28/lb for turkey. (I think) That's the only kind I would buy out there. (Trader Joe's Turkey Jerky is dried, spindly stuff with good flavor, but much more expensive that listed above.)

That link above seems like a decent price compared Pemmican/Trader Joe's and if it's as good as you say, then it is a no brainer.

FWIW, this stuffThe Link couldn't be easier to use and makes excellent jerky in the oven. I'm a lover of jerky and I've had Praseks and Dzuik's and you can make your own very comparable stuff.

There is a place on 281, just past the old suspension bridge by Canyon Lake that has Habanero Jerky that is really good. Something like Texas Exotic Meats, but I'm pretty sure that is the name of the place on Loop 410 in SA.

Prasek's is my #1.

As a kid, we'd always stop there for jerky on our long drives from Corpus to Tyler. We'd also stop at Crofut's in Bayside for their cookies.

Prasek's Turkey Jerky is the best I've ever had.
