Where are we now?

Here's what I see so far:
1. I think our pitching is better than last year... so far
2. I think our defense will be better than last year. Seeing signs of some talent (Hinojosa)
3. Our hitting is still total ****, especially clutch hitting.

Agreed on all points. I think we end up as a 2nd place finisher in a regional. We have the pitching to be in a Super (not win), bit doubt the bats would be consistent enough to win a regional. Definitely see signs of improvement over last year in pitching and defense. Once again I wish we hadn't have lost a good pitcher before this thing ever got started.

The bats will come around, but we don't have the type of players beyond a few to put up consistent runs against solid teams. When's it all said and done this talent has the make-up of a 16-25 ranking and a fairly good year with a very frustrating ending.

Disagree. Bats as a whole will not come around. There may be one or two guys who flirt with a 4-5 game hitting streak, but collectively, these bats are as weak as last year....maybe weaker.

Pitching is very strong and if we had any offense at all the Horns would have taken 2 of 3 at Stanford instead of getting swept. The hitting is charitably a "work in progress" but realistically is what the OP described it as. This team will go as far as the offense will take it because the pitching will give you a chance to win most of the games.

I am disappointed after this past weekend but not completely discouraged, this team has a lot of growth potential and it is early.

I stand by by my post after the Sam Houston State loss which
is the last post on that thread.
