When we play Mizzou...

I really hope our secondary is on their game. I watched Daniel just pick apart the Illini secondary. I was only able to watch the 1st half, but from what I saw... damn :/

Mizzou's secondary is probably as bad as ours...if that is possible. I go to Mizzou (still like UT more) and we got shredded by Juice Williams who is an average passer and QB at best.

Our secondary isn't BAD there green and will look like a whole different unit in a couple of weeks.. It's very hard for a secondary to come in and work as a unit when you havent played together in game situations before and Fau's qb wasnt a slacker either...

I am sure the coaches and players will work out these problems. But remember - first things first. We have a few games before them and right now we must focus on UTEP. More on that tomorrow. Let's enjoy our great win last night and VY's number being retired right now.

Same story as last year. Our secondary got a lot better in the 2nd half when we started getting a little more pressure. We made good adjustments and shut FAU down in the 2nd half.

We are still going to need much more pressure.

To think that our 3 North opponents are Mizzou, Kansas and Colorado really makes our schedule tough.

Hook'em!!!

Neb/Mizzou on 10/4 will be like basketball on grass. First team to sixty points wins.

let's hope we just didn't open up the playbook against fau b/c I didn't see alot of downfield passes, mostly dinks that we're accustomed to. The only one I saw Colt really go downfield with was when he was scrambling for his life, much like last year.

Mizzou's secondary had some issues vs. Illinois, but to be fair, our game plan was clearly focused on stopping the Illinios running game first and not all that focused on the deep ball. Given the fact that last year Illinois was fifth in the nation in rushing and the top rushing team in the Big Ten, but only ranked in the 100s or so nationally in passing, this was not a bad strategy at all. And Mizzou did completely shut down Illinois' running game in the first half. We basically dared Juice Williams to throw deep on us, and in the second half he did that prolifically and with much more accuracy than anyone expected. But I don't think that necessarily means Mizzou's secondary is bad, they just weren't ready to deal with Juice Williams being a deep passing threat game plan wise. Remember, this is the same Mizzou secondary that completely shut down Graham Harrell and Tech's air assault in a 41-10 drubbing last year. So at minimum they've shown themselves capable at times. I honestly think the Mizzou secondary will be just fine this year.

The pulled him to protect him. Why would they do that if we weren't turning up the heat? You prove your opponents argument......... and you thought you were being witty...

Definitely looking like we are going to see quite a few shootouts this year. At least Mizzou is at home, facing them in their house next year is going to be exciting too.

Daniel is playing his last eligible year now, is he not? How much will his departure affect the tigers? Cue Bill in Sinton to quash this discussion of the distant future.

In the short term it will impact Mizzou greatly as next year we will probably line up a redshirt freshman QB or even a true freshman QB. In the long term however, Chase Daniel's accomplishments seem to have solidified the QB spot for Missouri for quite some time, as the freshman waiting in the wings behind him is Blaine Gabbert from St.Louis, a five star recruit who was ranked in the top 20 overall nationally by Rivals. Basically this kid has very comparable hype and ratings to what the Gilbert kid from Austin will be bringing you guys. What will be interesting to see is whether Mizzou has the same level of success with these new, true blue chip recruits as they've had by uncovering less hyped hidden gems such as Chase Daniel and Brad Smith before him.

It was strange how they went from throwing on almost every down, to trying to establish a running game when they were already down. You don't catch up by running the ball, and if anything, you want to conserve the clock, not run it. I thought their QB, who was damn good football player, might have gotten knicked up a little. Maybe an ankle or a finger. I have not heard anything to back that up, but the change in scheme made no sense at all. However, I'm glad they made the change.
