When did we decide free Birth control was a right?

I have no problem listing birth control as a right. Just like I have no problem with listing gun ownership, home ownership, television ownership, cell phone ownership, life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

And yet none of those other rights require that someone else buy it for me.

If meds weren't paid through insurance, overall the cost would go down significantly. However, unfortunately, most of the biologicals that treat cancer and autoimmune disease would be unaffordable as their COGS are too high for pharma to sell to the average american.

When did it become my obligation to fund through my tax dollars unwanted children because a small minority of Americans have an issue with birth control?

When did the author of this thread think it was ok to call this discussion "BC a right", vs. what everyone else is discussing, which is "ACCESS" to BC is a right. BC is not forced on anyone, but in the same note nor should access from it be taken.

mcbrett?
Are you ok? You seem a tad confused. I am not the one who said FREE bc was a" right"> Did you miss the news the last 2 weeks? Lefties and BO are the ones deeming FREE BC is a woman's right
We on the right hvae always said there should be " ACCESS" to BC. That is not the same thing as FREE BC which is what BO wants

Do you think there are many if any women who do not have ' ACCESS' now?
Who would these women be?

Hey, if something is not free, then you are lacking "access" to it.

It's not a right. It's cheaper for the health care providers to prevent unwanted pregnancies than to not provide free birth control in the insurance plans.
We either pay more for insurance, or pay for the indigent care through county hospital district fees (i.e. property tax) for those with higher health care costs.
It's a dollars and sense issue.

Here's the bottom line. Having sex has a cost. If your "junk don't work," then the cost is ED meds. If you don't want to impregnate a woman, then the cost is birth control. If you want to get it on, then you gotta pay the cost, and for some guys, you have to pay both costs. If you can afford to pay it, then go for it. If you can't, then you better "rediscover your first love" or learn how to get "creative" with your woman.

However, you don't have the right to pick my pocket or anyone else's, and if you decide to gamble and lose (with either an unwanted pregnancy or in the case of ED, humiliation), that isn't my problem. You should pay the price for your own stupidity and lack of self-control.

the issue is forcing employers to offer FREE birth control because it is a Right.

if you read the posts above Insurance companies are not even sure it will save money as Bo et al keep saying

Insurance companies do not offer this now so if it really were a cost saver don't you think greedy ins companies would already offer it

the issue is WHo decided women should get FREE bc because it is their " right"
. All woman should have access to BC and they do. The poor get it free and lower income pay around$15.00 amonth

accurate

See above posts. Insurance companies are NOT sure it is cheapre and really if it was cheaper why haven't they offered it free before now?
Do you think ins companies don't want to save money?

your point about indigent care. Uh htese people already get free BC and still they get pregnant.
indigent women are not likely to have jobs with health insurance

freedom is free as compared to repression, which is very costly. to be sure, society loses considerable productivity when we must repress the core of our being. men and women will more than likely not live happy and productive lives when they enter marriages without the full understanding of their sexual nature because they succumbed to social pressures to abstain from sex. sex is at the core of your being, and i certainly hope that the catholic church wants it members to live authentic lives rather than lie about who they are. society benefits with birth control.

do you have the need to go and violently beat up other people? if you do, then you just about lost all credibility. really, well just have to disagree about what it means to be a real person, which is the point in question. i think that most people are out of touch with themselves because people suffer from an excess of consciousness; consequently, they will act out.
