Wheat aggy vs. Rice

What do you get when you mix Wheat (aggy) with Rice? A winner-take-all rubber match that is currently tied, 2-2, in the middle of the fourth.

Elsewhere, Okie Lite is up early on Clemson. The Cowboys lead, 3-0, in the top of the fourth and have a RISP with no outs.

UPDATE: OSU gets a two-out single, but the baserunner is hosed at the plate and the Tigers escape the inning with minimal damage. Okie Lite 3, Clemson 0.

I just saw that on gametracker where the Oklahoma State player was out at the plate. Didn't see the video, just GT. Was it a controversial out ala Yeast or was he just gunned down with a great throw?

Rice has Wheat aggy in trouble in the bottom of the fourth. The Owls plated a run on a bunt and error that advanced the runner all the way home from second. Rice 3, K-State 2 with two on and no outs. Wheat aggy's starter has been chased.

UPDATE: Holt with an RBI single scores Mozingo and Rice's advantage grows to two, 4-2. Hague follows with another RBI single, which brings home Comerota. Rice suddenly threatening to blow this one out, 5-2, with one out and runners on first and second.

UPDATE No.2: Diego Seastrunk blasts a three-run shot over the rightfield fence to put the Owls WAY in front, 8-2. That's six runs for Rice in the bottom of the fourth. My prediction that K-State would win this regional is now in serrious jeopardy.

UPDATE No.3: Wheat aggy turns a double play and gets out of the inning but not before taking a few haymakers to the temple. Rice 8, Wheat aggy 2.

Good throw. Guy was out, no controversy to speak of. OSU pitcher has been nails up to this point (bottom of the 5th, Frank Erwin time, still 3-0 Okie lite).

Clemson claws back a run with a two-out double followed by an RBI triple. The Tigers now trail Okie Lite, 3-1, headed to the top of the sixth.

Thanks for the update, Kazoo. With Rice now up by six, I'm wondering if I should switch over. K-State has some good bats, though.

**** NO I'm not rooting for those Berringer-desecrating K-State Wildcats. On this one I say screw the conference loyalties. GO RICE! I only wish Rice can beat them by 15 runs.

Okie Light working on something in the top of the sixth. The Cowboys have two on with one out and just chased the first Clemson reliever.

UPDATE: Clemson's 'pen gets the job done. Score still 3-1 headed to the bottom of the sixth.

Now them Im rooting for. Definitely GO BIG 12 on this one.

HNK, I think you've posted details on that story before, but are you sure it wasn't just a radical minority of K-State asshats?

I realize people get carried away--such is the nature of sports and rivalries--but I find it hard to believe that some could be so callous, especially toward a phenomenal student-athlete like Berringer.

The more and more i see K-State fans in person, the more I believe the majority of them really are like that. I've seen them twice in Lincoln - once for football at Memorial Stadium during Callahan's last year and once at the Devaney Sports Center when Beasley guaranteed he'd score 50 but we beat them. They are, without doubt, the most rude, obnoxious, disrespecting fanbase in college sports, even worse than Colorado. It's not even close.

Dayton - What I'm referring to is that three years ago on this board, I hyperlinked a thread on KSUFans during the week of an NU/KSU game, a good majority of the K-State fans proceeded to mock Brook Berringer's plane crash which caused his death. Now I go over there and I see them calling themselves "Proud Sponsors of the Brook Berringer Flight School."

Asshats, the whole lot of em.

Rice making a mockery of its rubber match with K-State and now leads, 10-2, in the bottom of the fifth and threatening to score more (two on, one out).

Wheat aggy cannot get an out. It's as if Rice is taking BP from K-State's pitchers.

UPDATE: All Rice (10-2) through five.

Okie Lite starts off the seventh with a leadoff single.

UPDATE: The Tigers are getting sloppy. Back-to-back errors loads the bases for Okie Lite, a sacrifice to center scores one, and a bad throw on a fielder's choice scores another. Clemson turns a double play to get out of the inning but now trails, 5-1.

Pokes up 5-1 in the bottom of 7... Lyons still rolling.. Clemson still swinging at first pitches... UC just put up about 3 E's in the top of 7.

OSu let Clemson back in it. Error by the shortstop extended the inning, then one over the fence. Now 5 - 3. Lyons getting his first mound visit after one bad pitch.

Next pitch - double down the line. Tying run at the plate, 2 outs, bottom of 7th.

Wow. Two-out homerun plates two unearned runs and trims the Cowboys lead to 5-3.

UPDATE: Okie Lite gives up a two-out double and the Tigers bring him home with a single to right. Baserunner is then thrown out at second to end the inning. Cowboys lead by just a run, 5-4, heading to the 8th.

TULPoke, the page to which that link takes you does not appear to be broadcasting.

My bad on the shortstop. Not too familiar with your lineup.

Clemson gets a leadoff walk in the bottom of the eighth and moves the runner to third on a two-out double to left center.

UPDATE: Base hit down the leftfield line brings in both runners. Clemson grabs its first lead of the day, 6-5.

UPDATE No.2: Another single and Frank goes to his 'pen for the second time this inning. Two on, two out and the 'Pokes trailing, 6-5.

UPDATE No.3: Grounder to third ends the inning. Okie Lite suddenly down to its final three outs. What a reversal of fortunes.

Wheat aggy shows some life in the top of the seventh, plating a pair of runs to trim the deficit to six. Rice leads, 10-4.

Now 2 on, still bottom of the 8th. Lyons out, OSU bringing in Oliver. Easy to second guess, but Lyons stayed in one inning too long...

Have to be disappointed in the Big XII. National Seed OU loses at home, none of the six teams traveling to regionals can pull an upset and only Texas gets out of the first weekend.

I know the numbers said Big XII should get two out based on the seeding but I was hoping for three and outside shot at four, instead not even both of the two that should have advanced make it. Just the Horns left.

This is important for future years and the Big XII getting 7-8-9 teams in. What might have been if Baylor had beaten LSU Saturday night or Okie State hadnt choked tonight, or OU had shown up to their own regional as a national seed.

Hambly out at first on apparently a bang-bang play. Anderson out to argue, but it's out No.1 for the Cowboys.

Anderson gets tossed. Okie Lite down to two outs.

UPDATE: Medchill works the count full, then rips a single past the first baseman and down the line. Man on, one out.

UPDATE No.2: David grounds to second and is out at first. Medchill advances, Belza up, pinch runner in for Medchill and two outs.

UPDATE No.3: Belza draws an IBB, putting two runners on with two outs. Ginther (1-for-2 with a HR on the evening) up.

UPDATE No.4: Ginther swings and misses three times. Torbush.

Okie Lite did a great job of making the most of its invitation, but, man, did the 'Pokes really choke this one away.
