What's in your golf bag?

I'm a quasi beginner golfer. (I played for about two years, didn't play for about two and am now starting back up.) I'm more serious about it now and part of that if figuring out the right club assortment and I was just wondering what you guys were carrying. Here's mine:

Driver -- Cleveland XLS -- It has that flex shaft and it's been working great since I realized I didn't have to kill the ball
Cleveland Hybrid 3i -- Good for 175 yards to 200.
Cleveland Hybrid 5i -- Good for 150 yards on the money. Good loft, too.
7 iron -- (All the irons are the original set and they're average but servicable)
8 iron
9 iron
PW -- 115 yards
Clevland 52 degree -- Good for 95, 71, and 45
Calloway 56 degree -- 80 yards, 60, and 40
Cleveland 60 -- 65, 48, and 32
Putter

I started off with a cheap complete set a few years back. I didn't know if I'd take to golf so I didn't want to spend big bucks. The entire set was maybe $300. Since then, I'd gotten the driver and the two hybrids. (The hybrids are gold, BTW.) That let me eliminate the 3-6 irons. The rest of the irons are the original set and they're fine.

I already had a Calloway 56 and I got the rest of them. They're working fine. The had part is finding the exact distance I can hit it with each club.

Anyway, what do you golfers carry in your bag and why?

Ping G5 Driver
Callaway 3 wood
Nike 2 Hybrid
Ping G10s 3-SW
Old Ping Anser putter

Since I've had the Pings, I've played a bit more and dropped my scores from around 92-95 to 86-90. Much more enjoyable.

first off i would say what you have is perfectly fine for your game.

I play quite a bit of golf and times and can tell you from experience that better equipment isnt going to make you much better by itself. it sounds like you have a decent set of sticks so that is sufficient.

I carry callaway x20 irons, steel shafts, I just like the weight and feel.

i use a titleist driver, i forget the exact model at the moment but it is not the size of a winnebago like those new nikes. lol.

i also have a titleist 3 wood, its a 975. small head but pure.

i have an assortment of wedges, haven't bought into the hybrid stuff. i mite say its even cheating but if it keeps you from slicing a 3 iron into the woods and slowing down my group behind you im all for it.

for putter i use a ping craze e. one of those odd spaceship putters but the feel/weight is great again.

i usually shoot about 85-90 legit. 80-85 if we are counting normal golfer strokes. play about 2 times a week.

my advice is to take a lesson or go get your swing analyzed at one of those golf shops that knows what they are talking about to get you on a good swing plane and make sure your clubs fit your swing/body.

On the hybrids, what shaft do you use?

On woods, I use Graphite stiff shafts and irons I use steel regular shafts. Do you want to be more in tune with your irons or woods with your hybrids?

Driver: Callaway FT-3 Neutral
Woods: 3- ERC Fusion, 5 BB Fusion
Irons: Callaway Fusion 3-LW
Putter: Taylormade rossa CGB fontana

I spend too much money on golf clubs. My first set ever was Callaway and I've never really ventured away from them.

I think you should treat hybrids like irons, hence the steel shaft. They are great out of moderate to short rough.

yeah, I disagree with bullzak, but not vehemently. My setup is like yours and I got stiff graphite in my hybrids, but shopped around to find the heaviest graphite shaft I could get. Don't like the ultralight graphite that is stock in some of the hybrids.

I think they're graphite. I'll check, though.

I'll echo the statement that you want to treat them like an iron rather than a fairway wood. That was my problem with them at first. They look and feel like a wood but you want to swing them like irons. You want the ball midway in your stance and you'll even want to take a small divot.

That was my problem at first. I kept treating them like fairway woods. I essentially got the hybrid 3i to replace the 3W and 5W and maybe the 3 iron so I swung them like that. The 5i hybrid was there to replace the middle irons so I've had less problem with that.
