...is extremely close? Especially, if, say, Obama loses by a few votes. Even though a repeat of 2000 is extremely unlikely, there have been other states in recent elections that have been close enough to trigger a recount.

I'm genuinely worried that there will be real violence this time around - especially with the constant charges of racism coming from the Left. The next 10 months are going to be ugly anyway. If an extremely close election follows several months of racism (real or imagined) and attacks, I think there will be severe issues post election night.
 
Whether the election is close or not, I expect the Dems to play the race card at every turn. That is what you do when you have no useful ideas. I hope like hell it does not turn violent, but that would not surprise me.

I'm worried people are taking these elections too seriously and may act out their insane fears.

I had lunch today with a friend who thinks Obama hates America and is intent on destroying it; I suggested that he is just kind of hapless, a darker shade of W if you will, and like most presidents just reacts to what is in front of him. He wasn't buying that at all, insisting that he really hates the USA. How could he be anti American and be married to a woman who likes to shop that much? How could he be an American hater if he keeps sending the Seals out to whack her enemies at every turn?

I think everybody needs to realize that the country is too big, too rich and too powerful to be run effectively at all and especially by the over indulged Ivy League children whom we keep turning the reins over to.

Just ignore the whole bunch of them and find something useful to do on election day. If arrogant jerks like Clinton and W can't destroy the country, this ignorant jerk wont either.

As for riots, those are easy to control: you release a whole lot of the drugs the government seizes every week and flood the market, driving the prices down so everybody in the street can get real high real cheap, throw in some free beer, and they will all be back on the porch in a day or two.
 
W arrogant, hmmmm, not once would I ever have thought that of him. The half dozen times I have met him he has been the most humble man in the world. He even recognized me, and kept shaking my hand saying I know the name give me a minute......he started to hurt my hand he gripped it so tight. Does not seek or comment on issues and stays out of the way. Not sure where the arrogant comment came from but you have the right to your opinion.

Billy, only met him twice, definately as arrogant as they come.

like gobal warming, dead baby polar bears, ice sheets breaking off, obscure beetles moving toward extinction through mother nature, the poor, income disparity, healthcare, evil corporations, the so-called rich ("people with real jobs that earn enough to pay income taxes"), government funds spent by republicans, the israeli's, treatment of felons and terrorists, intelligence reports and spying on americans-("but its ok if a democrat is in office"), evangelical christians and catholics ("its ok if you are muslim"), flu outbreaks ("because they are dirty and dont wash their hands"), wars ("its ok if a democrat is in office"), dictators in the middle east (castro and chavez are muy bueno), big oil in america (oil companies elsewhere, like brazil, are muy bueno)...what else?
 
i love the conservatives are dumb, liberals are smart studies and it always amazes me that with all of the intelligence that comes with a liberal mindset, the majority always try and take the wealth from those that earned it instead of earning it themselves.
