So for whatever reason my outlook will not send emails from my girlfriends house. It receives emails fine. It's some configuration issue I suppose, and I really don't care.

However, when I click send and receive it says it's trying to send and email, and then I get a send/receive error. But, there's nothing in my outbox. What's it sending? is this some virus thing that's trying to send some hidden message via outlook?

You still use outlook? Crazy.

Check the setting for your outgoing email server. If it's tied to your ISP, you may have to change it to match whatever your girlfriend uses.

Oh, and it doesn't sound like a virus thing. Just an error.
Using outlook CAN get your computer infected though. Consider using Thunderbird instead. Or a webmail interface if available.

Alden is probably correct. Check the SMTP (outbound) server settings for whatever ISP is delivering the connection to her house. You can Google this and find listings of the various ISPs and their mail server settings.

Don't know if this applies to you, but it may be worth checking. Our cable provider had a server problem the last few days, so no emails came in. The service rep gave me an option to go directly to the email server through Internet Explorer, instead of using Windows Outlook. I just have to type in a webmail address, account name and password. Advantage is I can access the email account from any computer. It's called Squirrel mail, fwiw. I have no clue about whether it's subject to hacking or other problems, but you might ask your ISP about it.
