JUCO QB Jake Hubenak ... Blinn

Will this work for Texas? What is the progress.
Report from Oct 22 says Texas has expressed interest.
Have heard nothing since.

Look at the picture of the guy. Got that Andrew Luck solid look.
6' 3" 195.
Letter to the Editor.. Statesman this morning brought it up.
Hubenak has 3 years eligibility. In taking Georgetown to the state finals three 48 touchdown passes.

Says that Oct report...

If what Hubenak says in the article from the above link is true, he doesn’t have any academic issues.

Even though he played against a couple of extremely weak teams, his numbers are impressive at Blinn. I didn’t understand why he didn’t get some interest from some DI teams last year. Worse comes to worse, he could go to a team like SFA or Texas State.

From his twitter, he just fiinished a 26-hour semester. Imagine trying to quality for a transfer this spring.

But right now the front page story is the 5-star dual-threat from Stephenville who decommitted from Tech and could be headed to Waco.

I really hope we bring in a grad transfer or proven lower division transfer in the next month or this Aggy pledge could prove to be a very memorable event. This kid has wanted to go to UT for a longtime and made no bones about it. I'm sure after leading all JUCO in passing yards by 200+ yards per game and in many other stats, then watching his favorite D-1 team suffer through the 2014 season with no QB and close out the season with 59 yards of total offense, not getting any reciprocal interest must have been pretty baffling. We can all hope that the amount Ty improves, the OL improves and tweaking the offense will be enough, but Ty has never been a proven winner at QB in high school or college and his problems last year were mental, so its crap shoot at best. Heard was a winner in high school but came in much further behind physically and mentally than was expected so this coming year is also a crap shoot. There are over 200 D-2 schools and many more Jucos than that and they all have QBs, plus grad transfers. We need 1. This team needs options and Hube was a viable option, with gobs of proven success in high school and lower level college. Hard to believe they would pass on that with what thy currently have unless they already knew they had a ringer transferring in. If not, it is unecessarily risky and possibly wasteful of an entire season, and especially when they did the same thing last year and lost the gamble. Here's to hoping.
