what's a good watch for a girl?

You could get a Tag for that, not with diamonds or anything on it though. Otherwise, most watches are going to either be well below or above that price range, in my experience!

I have a Michele as my "casual" watch and I love it. I bought one with a leather strap (~$450, I think) but the stainless and ceramic styles are dressier if that's what you're looking for (~$1200-1600). They have two face sizes for women; small is more feminine, large is sportier. Some styles have nice diamond accents. Saks, Neiman Marcus, and Nordstrom should all carry them.

One feature I really like is the interchangeable band. They come in a large variety of colors and textures.

I also like Maurice Lacroix, Raymond Weil and Ebel.
